I'm sure it would have been easier just to say "Yeah it seems we didn't calibrate the GPS correctly" instead of doubling down..

Releasing a "fixed" video later, lol after some hours in After Effects.

Thing is, this hypercar platform is stupid amount of money involved in buyers that have $2M just to spend on a toy. They want the fastest. For a company to fuckup intentionally or not on this level is a huge risk.

Ultimate in pics or it didn't happen.

I feel they honestly fucked up, they couldn't possibly have thought they would get away with posting dodgy footage. I feel there has been a simple cock up in putting it all together and amidst all the fist pumping high fiving, nobody sat down and checked that it all made sense.

        529km/hr did look cool though...

I'd like to think nobody is stupid enough to design, engineer &a build a multi-million dollar HyperCar then either

          a) blatantly lie and make up a record breaking speed
          b) fuck up the GPS telemetry and beleive they beat a record by 80km/h in a car that they didn't intend to go that fast.
          c) genuinely design a car to go that fast but fail, while fucking up the GPS telemetry to read it went that fast.

          the only other option is

          d) they designed and built a car to blitz over 500km/h and they achieved it.

they are American though so I'm leaning towards the 3 in 4 chance of total incompetence now.

            When is the do-over?

Yeah exactly, only way to settle it is to run the car again, with relevant telemetry and witnesses. Unless they broke it on the other runs.

I thought Shelby had a loooong history of marketing-related smoke-and-mirrors?

Not Vector-style, because the product actually exists, but lots of exaggeration ... the sales equivalent of the sort of engineering "cheating" (call it "alternate rule interpretation") you need to win races at a top level.

Not unlike a US dyno reading.

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Call me naive but I think it's a simple cock up like Shelby explained - as immediately expected from the ken REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'ing in the OP's post.

Video editing/proofing mess ups happen all the time, let alone to a mechanic shop.

Lol @ mechanic shop. They hired a production company to document the whole thing. It wasn't the bosses son filming on his iPhone and putting it together with windows movie maker.

Apparently the FBI found a laptop with the REAL telemetry data on it at a computer repair shop in Delaware, along with lots of child porn and a PDF copy of the jolly roger cookbook

                              40mph is a decent increase

One of the Speed Society social media dudes who has access to their page posted a link to a story about it on the SS website. Anything for the clicks.
