I guess that SEAT being such a failure back then means SFA of the market remembers SEAT let alone their failed Cupra models.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Fair cop ... can't see how you get that from the above post & the commentary it makes on the issues surrounding the release of a new brand that's linked with past failures into a very small & fairly-saturated market, but still, fair cop.

They're fine, Thilo is running around the Ring in 7m 20s in his Cupra. Not stock obvs, but they can't be too awful.

So they'd want to be at least 15% less than the VW equivalent.

Bizarrely I once asked someone (jokingly) I saw in a Seat whether they won it on 'The Price is Right". Answer, "yes I did". I don't think they actually sold any. They were all prizes.

As an impressionable young lad at the time, all I remember were a few of the co-hosts showing them off.

My only experience with Seat was after I managed to destroy the gearbox of my mk3 golf (powershifting the 66kw of fury!) the replacement came out of a wrecked Seat.

I had one when I first lobbed in Oz. 1995 Ibiza GTi. Was really fun until it fell apart.

Saying that I would still kick the tyres on a Sports Tourer if they made it here with a reasonable price tag.

You gotta admit, they look a shed load better than any VW or Skoda they are based on.

Cousins hubby had one in Euroland back in early 2000's. Nice thing.

                        That wagon looks pretty good.

Alas, reliability of VW's amongst my peeps has turned me off the brand. That and I'm sure they burned member of my family.
