Catalytic Converter scrap prices 2021 edition

I have a collection of OEM catalytic converters here, and I'm wondering what they are worth in scrap these days.

A pair of fucking huge Euro 5 dual-brick cats off a supercharged Range Rover circa 2014.

Two pair of Euro 4 dual-brick cats off supercharged Jags circa 2008-2009.

These have a 600 cell brick in the front, 400 cell brick in the back.

Any ideas what an average price for scrap would be these days? I've seen lots of "we buy cats" on FB marketplace but I'd like to get a rough idea of the market before I get mugged.

I sold a similar pair of Euro 4 Jag cats 5-6 years ago but I don't remember what i got for them, $300 for the pair rings a bell but I may be mistaken.

    Any guides from the gurus?
Jaguar XJR, Freelander 2 HSE, Jaguar XKR, MINI Cooper S

Random Habib's walking in to my shop are offering 4-$500 each. Have heard some specific ones go for significantly more.

My nopics buys cat converters for recycling in Indo, I'll see if I can get a rough value for you.

The euro stuff tends to be worth a fair bit.

It sounds like we are at a point where the recycling cost is higher than the second hand part value for 95% of cats. One of my guys in Melbourne says $350 is the go for a pair of 330ci e46 cats.

personally I think there would be decent money for you Jack if you can figure out who the end person is in the Habib/gumtree/crackhead chain and also figuring out how to quantity how much unobtanium you have per item

I couldn't buy a used pair of cats to help a customer out. Non-existent.

But one wrecker said they're one of the first things to come off the car and be sold. Easy money.

As per above, try and support a legitimate business. Too many cowboys out there. Just look at the amount of theft in the US and Europe.

And here. Neighbour was telling me a used car yard down here got done in a night. Thieves came in with cordless tools and cut the cat out of anything they could shuffle under.

Why are they worth so much ? I didn't think they are "that" heavy ?

The end users are some guys in the USA, I can give you contact if you want. Keep in mind that you will need to ship there.

I've got a pile of cats here, how do you find a legitimate business to sell them too?

My research so far has only found cowboys on Facebook and Gumtree.

We recently had a dpf stolen off one of our trucks (plus sensor) they used a reciprocating saw so it was obviously for scrap.
$3500+ for the DPF and $800+ for the sensor.

We managed to find a wrecker who only wanted $800 for the lot. Not sure if he knew what it was worth.

                            Thanks guys.

My daily is due for a new cat as it's starting to rattle, probably should say i want to keep it to offset the cost of new one. Which i expect won't be cheap !

Pity you didn’t sell them a month ago, prices have plummeted since the mines in South Africa started up production again
