    Semi interesting update.

One of the tree hugging guys who works for me parked his car (Prius) at Regents Park railway station on Tuesday. Started it to a metric shitload of noise - some prick had gotten under it with an angle grinder and removed a section of exhaust along with cat. He was suitably unimpressed...

Yep, looks like it. Poor bloke is a lovely fella, and knows bugger all about cars. He was devastated, but luckily the mechanic he uses found a cheapish second hand exhaust and cat for him from a wrecker. Would hate to think what Toyota would charge...

Half a dozen hertz vehicles were done at the Canberra Airport over the weekend.

Bad time to own a Prius.

If there was ever a good time...

                Just craziness.

Probably similar to my 2014 i30 (bumpage again for reminder - Hyundai wanted $5,300 for a manifold cat).

Won’t be long until certain garden variety cars make financial sense to buy up and part out if the cat is worth 1/3 of the cars value

Pretty much cleared out the < $1500 shitter market in Canberra. Pretty much anything in registerable condition is $3k and up purely because the source of starting point vehicles is gone (Mostly to FioriGuys front yard it seems).

At time of enquiry RRP 2nd hand on car was $11,000 - $15,500. Though same part for a new car. 30 - 40K.

Seems like it we're headed that way. With most cats located right at the manifold, is it protected enough in those positions as ones like the Prius (gen 2) is right in middle of the car that's not too hard to jack up and cut out.

I was wondering why the were the flavour of the month.
.... because every driver experiences the destructive potential of the effortless surge of power available through the smallest of body movements.

In my experience the elements are identical (as most cars have x2 cats - a manifold and a muffler).
