IHRA had looser rules about how fast “modern” street cars could go.

I think my licence goes up from $425 to $700 for two years (although I’m not sure what group licence I need under ANDRA

Means I need two licences/techs to run both Jambos each year.

From what I’ve heard, Willowbank would rather go broke than ANDRA

I wouldn’t be surprised if IHRA seek an injunction to prevent any racing at Sydney under any other sanctioning body.
    I own a two and a half litre Commodore - 8.93 at 142mph

Ihra allowed street cars with disks and airbags to go as fast as 10.0/140mph without needing tech, cages and a chute I though. Andra is a lot more Conservative.
I am happy to be wrong about my numbers.
      Torque sells tow cars.

10.0 for 2008 and later cars. I know as my BF II only just qualifies Jan 2008, if one day I decide to go full retard with it.

It sucked before because a 911 turbo would rock up and run a pass and get booted. I guess these days a Tesla Plaid will rock up run a low 9 stock and get booted.

Andra and IHRA need to find a way to coexist.

But we all know that track promotors would rather just play them off against each other.

ANDRA used to bang on about it, kicking out cunts driving McLarens and 911 turbos telling them they were unsafe, dangerous cars at those speeds and needed a roll cage to drive down their concrete wall lined strip again. Heaps of people used to just run once and get booted out or just lift off or brake at 1000ft.

500m away is SMSP where none of that's an issue, you can drive even faster and there is a whole racetracks worth of shit to hit...... Probably why they do so well with roll racing.

                    Thanks for the explanation!

From the tracks perspective, is the idea behind aligning with one specific body that you rely on them to set best practice, and by running to those rules you can prove to an insurer/auditor/coroner that you did everything you were supposed to? With a side dish of them co-promoting some of the events? What other reason would there be for chosing to only run with one or the other?

Or is it a simple case of more conservative rules = cheaper insurance/less liability, possibly as a kneejerk reaction to something that happened there or somewhere else?

you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

It’s all about sanctioning costs to the track. Whether you need to cage your car or whatever is not important to them.

Heres 9 pages of Andra v Ihra submissions. TLDR is Andra was a monopoly and charged too much, at least when these subs were made:

                      https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files...5%2B179551.pdf

                      quote:

‘The cost of sanction permits in Australia is in the order of thirty times higher than in other international markets due mainly to the substantial market power held and excised by ANDRA. By allowing KM to negotiate with both ANDRA and IHRA a lower price for sanction permits is likely to occur.’

So if TF is exclusively andra - if they hadn't changed, would that mean the championship would have been perth and darwin?

does that mean all the grudge style events are now tits up?

(and now I'm back to needing to buy a licence or get booted - because it will make me safer)
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

we did that with MOTOR magazine like 10 years ago, 911 Turbo S.

one to show how fucking retarded fast a stock car can be

and also to show how retarded the rules are/were.

You could break the beams, wait, and launch a 9 second pass

Is this all about politics and money? Whats the go?
