That Mustang reminds me of an Aston Martin Vantage with a Celica "Mustang" rear grafted on. Didn't look at a lot of pics because that website is too slow dial up!

- The mustang is a POS, top of the line one doesnt even keep up with a standard vette and they are comparing a poxy 6 to the monaro?
- The monaro did cost the same as an m5 previously, it has come down a bit now.
- Seppo styling tastes... well yeah, nothing we can do about that, im just annoying that we had to cop a stupid nostril bonnet in some vain attempt to please them and recover some sales.
- Anything coming to australia gets raped on tax, especially once it gets over 60k, to say something is truly 'in a different price range' you really have to take the price in the country of manufacture, things such as tax or deals between companies (monaro is actually cheaper in the US and UK, skew the value for money and price ranges.
- I know export is good for the country, but if they keep on fucking with the style of the monaros i dont care how much US money its bringing in, noone over here will buy the hideous thing and it will die a horrible death.this signature intentionally left blank

a few points...
1. the Corvette is a flagship premium model - one cannot compare them to a budget six cylinder coupe designed for pretenders
2. even in this bad cycle, the GTO sold ~10,000 units, in the same cycle, we bought 2,000 Monaros... this is the tail wagging the dog.
3. A stupid ass poontoss at Holden says that are restricting sales of the $950 GTO bonnet to older Monaro owners because they want to keep the new styling cues to the new models and not dilute the lines... grade A marketroid tosspot no doubt trying to stop Monaro poons fucken up their rides.
At this rate, I'd take a VU SS or a older S1/S2 Monaro just so I don't have to look at the new ones!

You can when it's only the flagship model in an American model-range ... especially when we're talking about cars that're all about appearances (where the pre-nostrils Monaro beats any Corvette since the plastic-fantastic Stingray was introduced).Originally posted by T0nyGTSt1. the Corvette is a flagship premium model - one cannot compare them to a budget six cylinder coupe designed for pretendersSoft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Very good point, I see what you're saying -> if Hyundai made a Tiburon with a 6.0 V8 in it, that would be comparable to the top-of-the-range flagship Chevrolet. Except I think you've kinda (accidentally?) skipped over the fact that it'd probably be better build quality.

If there's no point in comparing Mustangs to Corvettes then we're down to comparing individual models on ... their colour schemes?Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Have seen one Monaro - and one VXR Monaro on the roads here in the 3 months they've been on sale. The VXR was the exact one they tested on Top Gear. Don't think they are selling too well.Originally posted by R31tIt is sold in the UK as a Vauxhall. They also get a version roughly equivalent to our HSV GTO called the VXR. No idea how well it's selling though.
Sorry, too slow.
Being £29 grand is affordale, but being in the same insurance group (the highest) and the same CO2 tax group (highest again) as a Ferrari is not affordable :/
having said that the M3 is in the same group, ditto new 911 - and i've seen dozens of them :D
Cheers,

Is that being ironic?Originally posted by MR2Vaeth$60 million spent on developing the Monaro. Sounds like a lot...is it? I would've thought that they could've come out with something more innovative and ground breaking for that amount of money.
AUD$60 million to develop the Monaro is the perfect example of economy... making a dollar stretch the furtherest.
A minor model change like the last of the AUII -> BA was something like hundreds of millions.
It's well known that BMW, Mercedes and the Americans spend billions to develop their new mass market model, eg. 3 series, C class.
AUD$60 million to them is enough to design some new exterior mouldings.
