    Mechatronik 300SL (1958 Mercedes 300SL + C36 AMG Engine)

    stolen from another mercedes forum...

    3.6 AMG goodness! in a 1958 300SL!

"This 300SL roadster is a completely special vehicle. The Sultan of Brunai some years ago ordered ten original 300SL with modern technology and original optics with AMG. Only 7 of these vehicles was finished and had at that time, developed as 8Zylinder with 6,0ltr., a selling price of 3.000.000DM per piece. This 300SL roadster is one of the three, which was not converted to end, since the project was stopped at that time. The car became forwards approx.. 2 years of a private collecting tank bought and for the employment on "Carrera the Panamericana Mexico" equipped with a C36 engine. Now the vehicle was back-prepared on original optics and stands to the sales."

Geeßus that rear view is up-to-date!! Has it been fiddled somehow? Remove the rubbing/trim strips, inset the tail-lights, and use moulded plastic instead of chrome for windscreen & the rear of the passenger compartment, and it could be the rear view of a rather sexy looking modern vehicle!
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

          Retro dah-ling!

          It's the new 'Bangle'!

I'm guessing they did some things to it to bring it to the 1980s... discs all round, proper multilink rear end lest the lawyers turn up.

hitlers staff cars were cool, apart from the bulletproof panels only extended to shoulder height... solid tyres, massive fueltank.
