Driving along in the left-hand lane yesterday morning on the way to work, waiting 'til there's room to get past the petrol tanker in the middle lane ... while it wasn't doing anything untoward, I'd still rather not go 'round corners next to one. Anyhoo, the car in front gets far enough ahead, so I let the car accelerate a bit down the hill ... nearly past the tanker, when for no apparent reason it starts moving into my lane! Forward is way closer than back, so I try to huddle-up in the gutter as much as possible & accelerate down the hill ... almost make it before he slams into the back of the (borrowed!) Astra I'm driving! Really punts the back of the car sideways, all sorts of grinding & scraping & thudding noises, and it felt like it'd bounced off the gutter & back into the truck again ...

That's pretty-much it! I expected the bumper to be ripped off, gravel rash on passenger-side wheels, and a huge chunk outta the rear quarter. Instead it's really just a collection of gouges from his fron wheel nuts (dammit, I was that close to making it!).
I suspect crashes often feel worse than they are? This could've been so much worse, semis are very much larger than Astras ...

[I think the electronic throttle opens up to fight against them; that's what it feels like, and it's apparently normal for them]
