Well. I got charged with speeding, wrote a letter and finally only received a warning (no charge or fine). It was my first speeding offence after 13 yrs of driving so that may be a reason for it working.
If you currently have a clean record and its a low range offence then certainly send in a letter stating how terrible you feel about doing this and that it is your first offence.
My mum got done by a camera, driving back from syd-canb, after her dads funeral, got done for 103 in a 90 zone (where they dropped the speed limit over the div range temporarilly) had not had a driving offence EVER (had been driving for more than 35 years) and they actually put in larger speed signs a week later, (she didn't even see them, they were tiny) and they wouldn't let her off, so i really hope they don't let you off, and send you a bill for wasting their time.
i dont have a problem if you are writing because you are not guilty, but you are, you admit it, so just cop it sweet, pay the fine ans STFU.
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...
thanks for the people that actually have replied in a normal manner, and the few wanks that have a problem with me writing a letter.. Piss off we dont need your kind of input on performance forums, because as far as i know it wasnt illegal to try and get out of a speeding fine. its not like i was street racing and i got pulled over i was just crusing wasnt paying much attention to the speed i was doing.
has anyone written a letter before because i am not really sure how i should really go about it.
so are you guilty then?? if you are then i personally dont appreciate people such as yourself looking at ways to squirm your way out of being penailised for something you did wrong.
Dave, we still don't know the circumstances under which you were booked. For all we know you could have been doing 100 in a 60 zone in which case you have no excuse. But on the other hand, you could have been done for 6 or 7 over which obviously isn't as bad.
15km/hr over in a 80km/hr zone is not that accidental.
You will not get off.
Write a letter if you so disire, contrary to popular belief writing is not that hard, even though it is somewhat of a lost art after school finishes for most.
kamidozey: funnily enough i take exception to being called 'a wank' but if you had half a fucking brain in your head, you might have figured out that if you were truely 'not aware' what speed you were doing, you could have told the cop at the time, as opposed to probably giving a stupid answer to the 'is there any reason you were speeding' leading question they ask you....
You have 0 chance of getting off, (without going to court) you are wasting your time, don't bother.
go and have 'a wank' at which im sure you are highly adept, im sure you probably look like a crab by now.. (you know one big arm one little one)

listen.. the deal is i never had a fine before and i was asking how long till i get the fine in the mail on another thread.. and soemone said if its your first time i should write a letter in.
and thats what i wish to do it will not harm anything doing so.
and if ur not going to give any help to my thread you are a wank and why post for ?
and GSRnugget with the brain that is missing from my head i told the cop that and he just showed me his radar and wrote out a ticket.. thats it.
and the few wanks that have a problem with me writing a letter..
Kamikaze - do the words "pot, kettle, black" mean anything to you?
Piss off we dont need your kind of input on performance forums
The use of the word "we" is fairly funny I find considering how "we" the "wankers" you mention that think trying to get out of a fairly minor speeding offence is stupid ARE what makes performanceforums not "you" - "YOU" are as such the "wanker"
Man I love these comments
take your comments esle where buddy.
Speed cameras: Best tax ever! The one that makes you pay and makes you think you deserve it.
Sure I agree the speeding fine is crap and revenue raising and all else - but I wouldn't be writing a suck up letter to get out of it if I didn't agree with the fine I'd be actually doing something positive to getting the legislation about speeding changed...
Get some of the going faster is terrible brainwashing out of people's heads
Hell take it to court and tie up some of the court's time to plead your sob story - the more cluttered the courts become the better IMO
