I wrote a letter for 72 in a 60 zone and the fine was waived...

Bah the one speeding fine I got out of (I've only had 2 in my driving career the other was 7kms over the limit down a hill) was 83 in a 60. I paid no fine after giving a sob story.

basically my sook was:
I can't get to school without my car. (I was on P's so this fine would have also removed my licence)
My job is to drive around.
I can't afford the fine and save for a house at the same time.. I also made up shit about how I needed to move out from my parents house asap and I wasn't going to rent blah blah.

Obviously it worked.. But this was before the maddening situation we have now days so....see how you go but expect to have to pay the fine.

State your unblemished driving record. length of licence. Road conditions at time of offence. You won't do it again. Ask if you can have either the fine commuted to a warning or if you can only pay the fine (no points).

been driving for 6-7 years
i have the 1st notice which is due 15th of Jan.
its for over 15kms under 30kms.

and for the record i am not one of those people that actually drive like any idiot.. i was just speeding on a straight road which really should be 100.


and i am not arrogant just would like to know how i can deal with it thats all !

Hahahha I remember that day. Was in the car with ya at the time. Cop was stern, but fair. It was a Laser gun offence and cause you didn't act like a dick, got out of it.

Like Carazy said though, things have changed now and suddenly speeding is the only reason that car crashes occur ( ) so I don't like your chances there Kamikaze. Personally I'd just pay the fine and accept it. Only reason being is that you have mentioned there are no mitigating circumstances, it was just a simple cruise along, not checking your speed type offence and as a result Cops will just read the letter, have a chuckle then send you the fine (or a reminder notice). Could give it a try but it probably won't work.

I got done once for 87 in an 70 zone with a laser gun. Thing is that it was 11:30 at night on a straight stretch of road with 3 lanes on each side and a median strip in the middle. No other cars in sight and the road did used to be an 80 zone (hadn't driven that stretch for a while). I tried to reasonably argue it with the Cop that pulled me over (was just driving home from a very long day at work) and just basically wanted to get home. Wasn't racing anyone, wasn't booting it, just cruising. Still got the fine, still had to pay it. Even though I thought it was a crock of shit (and still do) someone independently looking at any correspondence I may have sent through would have read the letter, noted I was breaking the law and made me pay the fine anyway..

Such is life..

hmm I'd be more inclined to try and get it dropped a bracket.. eg you accept you *COULD* have been doing 5 over or something... car must have wandered away slightly down hill or whatever but could never have been doing 15 over...
