Pre-1996 Magnas were basically widened Galants; they're simply selling the wide-body version of the Galant, as they did back then, but this time they're also putting a Galant badge on the back.

I must admit that I thought the JDM Galant was the same as the US one, just narrower; is that photo above not an older model, or one that's about to be superceded? It looks related to the current "platform" of Magna to me, ie. it looks like it was probably originally designed to match the '96 model Diamante & has been facelifted a few times since ... doubt it'll last long in that form.
Anyhoo, I suspect what we'll get will be what the USA have got, with a few small styling changes ... and even if that's the same as Japan but wider, look how much worse Accord Seppo looks than Accord Euro (and there's not much real difference between them in actual size).
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Above pic is from the japanese mitsubishi site, so I assume its current? I would of thought theyd have the 05 model up there, its hard to navigate, since its in japanese

Woody, they only exported Magna wagons in LHD form didn't they?
AFAIK they only exported wagons for a short period to the UK way back when.

All other exports were of the sedan in LHD form (USA/Canada)

Latest jap galant, is totally different. Actually looks different, but I cant see Au getting the good galants again
Our Galant is based on the one currently sold in the usa. Much larger than the Jap spec galant (which is quite an old model)

The main thing is that we get the TTv6 JDM Galant engine. 206kw would be very handy.

Hmm. A little birdy Mitsubishi dealer has said to me AWD and Supercharger out July.

He was also right about the AWD VRX and Ed Ord. models.

                Food for thought.

Also the new Magna/Galant gets a 3.8L V6. But its going to need 180kw or so to compete with the Falcodore.

You can't get that engine in Japan any longer.
All good things come to those that wait!

Pity what they should do & what they will do are so far apart

Edit: Hang on, regarding AWD V6's, if the 3.5 & 3.8 are just bored/stroked versions of the 3.0, can't the 3000GT/GTO running gear be brought back?

The USA Galant's 3.8L engine puts out 240hp... which is just about 180kw
