One look at the number plate would tell you that maybe he drives his cars fairly hard, which maynot help.

O8ESE - that's not smoke, just a "solar flare", like a reflection from somewhere.

They complained that it shut itself down on full boost on a 42 degree day..... Who the **** uses full boost on a 42 bloody degree day?!?!?!?!?! I drive with the lightest foot you've ever seen when its over 30 degrees and I would have thought that an ecu that shuts the engine down when you'e doing something that silly was a good thing

I think it was just some crap on my windscreen that caused the fake exhaust smoke "puff".

I hear what you say about fanging your car in the heat but it should be able to take it for a common production car. We live in AUSTRALIA - 40+ wouldn't be that rare in some parts. It shouldn't shut down, it should do other things to protect itself but shutdown, no.

I've seen a Mercedes A Class with a similar sticker job. Can't remember what it said other than it being a lemon though

ah one lemon XR6T must make all of them lemons i guess!

Just like supras indefinately will have head gasket problems.

Anti ford you are but each to their own. Doesnt help comparing a Supra which im not sure but around double the price of the XR6T!

you get your lemons in any car,no matter where it's built.
um different ratios yes. But theres more than that between the boxes.

you can pick up turbo JZA80s for under $30K, but the cars are so disparate they don't deserve comparison

Why would you give an kudos to Toyota and Nissan buying their $14,000 gearboxes from Getrag or Holden and Ford respectively from Tremec?

I wouldn't quite call that silly. Outside temp here (according to temp display in the car) on most days is over 40 degrees. Should I never use full throttle in my WRX?

I certainly wouldnt, most of summer in Adelaide the temp on the road is 40+ and I don't expect the DR30 to take full throttle or anywhere near it in that weather

what they didn't say is what fuel they put in it on that 40° day. if they put regular shit unleaded in it, of course it'll shut down!
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

we do live in Australia. Not sure if you've noticed but it does get that hot. In fact, in some towns it would be lucky for all of January to be less than that peak.

You've just paid 50 big ones (60+ in this case) for a spankers car, it is for Australian conditions. You should be able to drive it on public roads within legal limits whenever the hell you want to.

yes - but you're aware that high temp + boost = bad.

Most (okay many) punters arn't. Hence why it's a problem. I'm sure they're alot of wives (perhaps even a few husbands) of performance enthusiasts who own 6t's who don't even realise that the car has a turbo, let alone what one is. (even if it does have a badge )

The word turbo is used on everything from cars to Vacuums and Microwaves so you could understand the confusion.

                            Cheers,

                            C+

Surely they would have put what ever fuel they were instructed to in it?
