cops call themselves cops so i see no issue there. but they dont refer to a workmate as 'yeah he's a pig too' so i guess we will leave it as cop or 'five-o'

i do think there is a lack of respect here, some people (including myself) have strong opinions on almost everything! but the thing is, how do we change the trend? look at how 16 year old newbies are 'treated'

By not joining in on the newbie bashing, but by supporting the newbie instead. If they show some hope of conversion to the good side instead of the super low neon side, then we shouldn't hassle them. Then if they turn out to be a dick, then bring on the flame suits.

Its not far from that to turning a blind eye to corruption, as the Fitzgerald inquiry in Q so completely demonstrated.

Having been through the Fitzgerald Inquiry, your post shows me you know very little about what actually went on. If a cop is an arsehole, I'll call him an sarsehole. If he's corrupt, I'll call him on that. Maybe walk a mile in someones else's shoes before you comment.

I couldnt be any calmer. Maybe one day, you'll back your posts up with a fact. Actually, why worry about the facts, they ruin your credability. As I have said before, I've been doing this for nealy 20 years, nothing you say I will take personally. I got over that after about 2 years.

Today I witnessed a car daydreaming in rainy weather, slam into another car waiting to turn right, at about 60km/h right next to me.

Fortunately everyone walked out of the accident and when the police arrived, after giving a statement and details, I asked how they feel about speed enforcement when it does nothing to prevent most accidents, like this one. Both police firmly avoided the questions and refused to answer. I asked if a speed camera would have prevented this accident and the same question dodging occured.

All was well so I left.

Yeah but the police management doesn't want a lot of dissent from the ground level.

If I express an opinion at odds with company policy, that reflects bad on the company.

Sure they have opinions but a member of the Public asking a cop for their opinion on booking someone would be like asking a politician whether they believe in their own party's policies. I am sure it would not be good for their career if they told members of the public that they don't believe in the laws that they have sworn to uphold. In my opinion it is not up to the cop to defend the placement of and proliferation of speed cameras.

Get one off duty and it would be a different story.
