early ones are dirt cheap here - easily under A$10k

they aren't that heavy, but are plagued by all sorts of issues - never found favor in japan

oh, and, IIRC, the GTO/3000GT engine sits opposite to the magna layout (we/ew?) - which is why you don't see very many swaps

OK I want you to think for a second Bozz.

Take a look at ya 300Z engine bay.

Now think if the engine was tranverse. Bingo.

        Nice cars. 4WD, 4WS etc.

Heavy, gearbox and clutch woes due to weight. Check out the US sites under things such as Dodge Stealth and 3000GT.

I remember reading a few years back that Sydney police were banned from chasing these things. Ram raiders were using them in lieu of WRXs, and basically the police were told to not bother pursuing them. I think this story was in the Telegraph though so could be bullshit. Anyone else remember it?

the interior with those early Z style *starwars* gauges looks shit. that would be enough reason not to buy one IMHO.

They do hammer though. and make more power pretty easy, not crazy grunt (without big dollars) but respond to the usuals much better than most.

But for ten grand? thats very cheap. being an AUS delivered (although not many) would have to help with servicing and parts too.

Yes I know all the drawbacks. But the engine bay is MUCH LESS cramped than a 300zx - I had a nightmare elec problem on one that had been butchered up in japan and had to get parts of the engine apart to test various things - the engine is much easier to work on than a 300zx and I'd prefer one almost anyday, sure its a bit heavier but the 300 is a lardarse anyway so why not go for 4WD and something thats dead sexy.
