Minardi gets the green light for GP
19:08 AEDT Fri Mar 4 2005
Formula One team Minardi can race in the Australian Grand Prix after the Victorian Supreme Court granted an injunction.
Grand Prix officials earlier ruled the Minardi team out of the race after they were told their cars did not meet 2005 safety standards.
Justice Habersberger ruled Minardi could participate in Saturday's practice session, given that the matter was urgent.
The court was adjourned until 2.15pm on Saturday when any interested parties could discuss the issue further.
No Formula One officials appeared in court because of the short notice of the legal action.
Minardi team owner Paul Stoddart was relieved his cars could get on the track on Saturday.
"Now it's in the hands of the court, I really can't say anymore than that except that Minardi will be participating tomorrow, as usual, at the Grand Prix," Stoddart said.
"It's really fantastic to actually get on the track in the wake of all the publicity.""you are an idiot. no one likes you, you have no friends, your adopted, your mother thinks your gay"

I don't see how a court can make this happen, and what their jurisdiction is.
Rules are rules. More fool Stoddart for turning up with a car that he has known half a year would not be eligible to start.
Its a pity that the FIA did this in the first place as it does seem to completely contradict their stated intention of making the class less expensive and more competitive.Fortitudo et Superbiam

we'll sounds like stoddart has opened a can of worms, neil crompton read a press release from the fim,if an australian judge can over rule a fim rule then they would have to consider having any international events (motorsport) in this country.there was moer to it but thats the crux, not good for aussie motor sport veiwers and spectators.not good for anyone for that matter.

there two entirely diffrent bodies, this should not have even gone anywhere near the courts, if they wanted to apeal they should have apealed to the right people. Better yet stodart should have just made the modifacations in the first place.Originally posted by paul05we'll sounds like stoddart has opened a can of worms, neil crompton read a press release from the fim,if an australian judge can over rule a fim rule then they would have to consider having any international events (motorsport) in this country.there was moer to it but thats the crux, not good for aussie motor sport veiwers and spectators.not good for anyone for that matter.
As much as Minardi is a good thing for F1, if they cause this much of an uproar and choose not to apeal to the right people then they really shouldn't be in F1
