yeah its hard to feel comfortable in small jap cars. Im 6'4'' and I was driving a MIRA the other day (heaps of fun - used knees to steer!). and id love to drive a lotus elise! (sigh)
but my mate is 6'7'' and he drives an excel everyday, so i just think of his frustration. bahaha! :D

A mate of mine can't drive ... can't remember which of the two it is, I think it's Falcons, 'cos he's too tall. He fits in Pulsars (well, N13's & N14's) though.
However, the answer to the original question, as it is the answer to many questions, is "Volvo".
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
Angus (A777) seems to be able to fit in his Series 7 ok... just don't be close to the center console when he changes gear as your sure to get an albow in the arm! :D
I'm 6.1 and I have about 20-30 cm head clearance in my evo 1 sitting on factory recaros. Plenty of room!
Stay away from Datto 1200 utes... I'd have to go to yoga to fit in my mates!

likewise, don't buy an s15, especially the Spec R. As said before, the sunroof reduces headroom.
Or, u can ask all those "fully-sik, seat reclined, only the head showing above the door" drivers what their secret is for achieving a lower driving position. :p
Seriously, I've seen a few 200sx owners have race seats bolted to the floor instead of rails and this improved head room a fair bit.
i'm 6'5 and i used to own a datto 180b had some problems but was able to drive it anyway go the commodores i've had 4 of them and had no problems with room
Seems like we could start a decent basketball team
I'm 6'6, i've had a VL Commodore, an N14 Pulsar, and a S14 200sx, and fitted fine. I was going to buy a 4wd Ute :p but couldn't fit into any except the Patrol, and couldnt afford one of them. Skylines are a tight fit, WRX's are a tight fit. Anything with a sunroof and you aren't likely to fit. My only advice is lay the seat back and drive pimp style :D
I am 6'1" Which is not big compared to most of the people posting here. But the only car that I have ever had serious problems with was a Datto 1200 ute.
One of the best cars I have ever owned for height and room is a KA Laser, believe it or not! I have also owned a series1 RX7 and it was fine..... once I put racing seats in, I could get a helmet on and still have head room in that car! I also owned a 180B and it was spot on, I had stacks of head room in that, with standard seats I proberably had 20cm to the roof...
