a used set of bilstens are about 50 bucks here.. well worth the upgrade!!
is they are so stiff why are they a factory option???
Dunno....but they are surprisingly hardcore. I currently have Koni shocks and lowered springs and it rides a hell of a lot softer than the Bilsteins did on stock springs. I really did like them though, very throttle-steery.
MX5's may have a slight hairdressy image, but on the flip side there's a far greater chance you can pick up a used MX5 that's nice & stock, never been thrashed hard, etc etc. :D
Only because people who haven't driven them or understand the concept of a sportscar refer to them that way .
Also, you will find that very many MX5s have been involved in some type of motorsport at some time because they are so damn good and the clubs are very active. They are probably one of the most raced cars in the world alongside the likes of Porsche 911s in club and amatuer level motorsport too. so there are plenty of goodies to buy for them as well.
A slow day at the track is better than any day in the office.
A lot of mx5's have had the arse thrashed out of them... but they love absolutely love it. One of the few cars you can drive to the track, thrash the arse out of them and drive home with out too much worry of anything going wrong.
vrmmmpsh: I had bilsteins in my roadster - and they weren't that bad (ride quality is a very subjective thing though) - but they are definitely much harder than the type-r FD3S shocks
I'm surprised your car doesn't have them, as most roadsters of that era, that I've seen, seem to be optioned with them
