    I run of the theory of $10/100km in fuel. Rego and insurance... well, it all depends on how much I drive to reduce this cost per km. It's probably around 30-40¢/km but I don't want to know. I'll look more into it on the next car I buy.

      I always thought my Statesman cost a bit to run, worked it out just then though...

      Total repairs per km
      $0.06

      Total running (rego, fuel, servicing, insurance) per km
      $0.21

      Total cost per km
      $0.27

        I think the more relevant issue is costs/income. In Q's case this is 1/10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000000000.

        For the rest of us its a slightly more pessimistic number

            I can extrapolate how much my 200SX will cost over the next 6 months.

            Running costs: Tyres, petrol etc:
            $0.00/km

            Rego/Insurance
            $725.00/km

            I really should de-register and uninsure it hey.... It's in storage.

              hehe well

              $550 - fuel
              $230 - rego
              $80 - insurance
              $50 - car cost

              16.5c / km including the car...

                I have always considered them cheap to maintain [given their cost]

                Today I had opportunity to total my maintenance costs on the 993TT over a 2.5 year & 22 000km period.

                COST PER KM - Maintenance & warranty costs only
                $0.62c

                COST PER KM - Running Costs - incl maint, petrol, rego, insurance
                $1.00 [freaky !]

                COST PER KM - Modifications :p & Running Costs
                $2.10 :oh:

                On a brighter note, it cost me only 84c for each run I did down the 1/4 mile....... :p

                Nice work Q but you haven't taken into account the financing costs of the vehicle. I know you said you didn't lose on depreciation but were you paying a lease / chp on it? Even if you paid cash, it's important to take into account the 'opportunity cost' of having all those funds tied up in a car.

                That is the real cost of expensive vehicles.

                  yeah but he was driving a carrera s, so his money was earning him the driving experience.

                  its a high yeild investment you see.

                      COST PER KM - Running Costs - incl maint, petrol, rego, insurance, minor bits
                      $0.85

                      $2.5

                      COST PER KM - TOTAL ALL SPENT TO DATE & TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELLED

                          much better than standard.
                          when given a hard time, that increased to 16 - 18L/100km

                                Too many cars at home, counting all the cars stored offsite, we have 7 cars. 3 of us can drive.

                                We only have 4 cars at home at any time. So I'm playing with the MX5 at the moment and tucked the 200 to bed. I'll bring it out to play every now and then.
