Dunno if it's only the BAs, but they have a sump plug in the tank so you can drain the petrol easily......would have come in handy for me.....funnily enough, the two other guys were in Falcons.....

Edit: will check if the workshop chucked some metho in, he mentioned it might need it, but dunno if he actually did it or not before we picked it up.

metal tans deform then rupture. plastic tanks deform a lot more before they will rupture.

            and they're cheaper.

Which explodes first in event of a fire? Or no difference when it's that hot?

depends on where the fire is! But the fuel in either tank will expand and force out the filler or breather and ignite before even the plastic tank melts.

I think everything that you got done it will be fine.

OKay, so the car seems to be running fine now..... except......

When starting stone cold (e.g. overnight, or left in the carpark all day), the car doesn't seem to fire up immediately. The engine will crank for 2-3 seconds before maybe firing up. Second go, it starts up perfectly. When its only been left for an hour or two, it also seems to start fine. Drivnig is no problem, no hesitation, no spluttering, all running smoothly. Idles fine too.

ECU prob? It's only occurred since the fuel prob, but we also changed the battery, although I don't think that would reset the ECU at all in the Commodore?

Tried turning on the ignition and leaving it a few secos before firing. Still cranks and cranks before maybe catching. Almost as if there's no fuel, or no spark. I suspect the former though.

                    Any ideas?

XD onwards have a plastic tank, or was it XE? I'm not 100% sure, although I know for a fact that my XF has one

New sparkies went in when the lines were cleaned etc. The car runs perfectly in all areas, except for that initial cold start. Might have to pull the sparks and make sure they are the same temp range etc as the old ones....?

Actually, the moral of the story is... don't fill up at Shell full stop unless it's an emergency.
