Paul,
Firstly, you drive like a soccermom, so :p
But seriously, I can see the arguments for an against.
But I live in the Upper North Shore.....yeah, not just the North side, but the upper one where we have streets with multi-million dollars houses (without harbour views FFS). There's a ton of soccermoms around here that I've had near misses with. 4WDs, hatchbacks, Falcadores etc. You name it, I've had to avoid it. So yeah, bad driver syndrome. Along with the cockface who decided it was cool to drive at 60kmh in a 70kmh zone in the right lane this morning with his arm hanging out of his Rangie - fuck you buddy :p
4WDs are not safer than a passenger car IMHO. I personally know someone who was driving their Pajero out country on a gravel road, slid on some loose stuff, and the car rolled. His 4 year old son died in the acco. Police reckoned that had he been in a normal car, it most likely would not have rolled due to the lower CofG. His wife has never gotten over the loss of her boy, even now, 10 years later.
4WD owners should be made to pass a driving test in a 4WD IMHO. Parking the mofo, reverse parking it, changing lanes safely in it... etc etc. Those who have a modicum of driving skill will pass it no wuckers. Those who don't, shouldn't be behind the wheel of one. I drove my uncles RAV4 (yeah, I know it's not a 'real' 4WD), and reverse parking the thing was crazy because I couldn't see shit of the car behind me. Lucky for me he had reverse park sensors, but seriously, without them, I'd have been fucked. I don't consider myself a bad driver, but if I'm struggling to park a fucking Rav4 at first, WTF are soccermoms going to do? There's plenty of people who have trouble jumping from a small/medium car to a large family car.... what happens when they get behind the wheel of a truck? Do they expect it to handle as well as their Corolla/Vectra/Falcadore? Most likely...
Erm, okay, what was the point? Oh yeah. FatBoy drives like a Soccermom.... :D
