Once upon a time (about a year ago) I spoke to a heavy hitter in Subaru and asked him about the STi Forester. The exact words were "the STi Forester will come to Australia over my dead body". That particular heavy hitter will probably be around until 2008 or thereabouts so there may be a reconsider when he takes a step back.
In the short term anyway, this generation will not come to Australia.
I don't understand why anyone would want one of these unless they were considering a WRX hatch (do they still make them?). Same interior space, slightly better luggage carrying space if your willing to load the back up above the rear seat level.

Maybe he is thinking that a STI Forester will take sales away from the Imprezza STI but could be some other reason. Maybe he is another John Economos al la Toyota.
