bigmuz: I've driven a 777, which is obviously smaller than the 787 and 797. From memory the engine is a big (16L I think?) turbo V8 diesel, 7-speed semi-auto box. They actually go quite well, they're limited to 70km/h or so. They get up to speed (when empty) quicker than you'd think!
They're also surprisingly pleasant to drive, it really is just like driving a big car. Except for the fact that the brakes are power-assisted from the engine; which means if you need brakes then you need revs! That takes some getting used to.

I used to work on these things, but the biggest they had was a 793B which is somewhere between that big bitch and the 777. 793B is quad turbo V16 and about 52L from memory.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

With that payload capacity, it could carry a Jumbo Jet. Bill, there's your new tow car :DThere is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.

On a Perth trip a few years a ago we dropped into the super pit near Kalgoorlie or Koolgardie, cant remember which. I was young but remember the mechanic there said the trucks were desiel electric as they were more reliable. I.e. the desiel motor was the generator for the electric motors on the wheels. The trucks were doing about 80ks down the hill and about 3ks up fully loaded. Was one big mutha of a hole though!!Originally posted by My mate Nathan"Boob is almost as good as cunt"

Yep that's correct, the bigger dumptrucks (787s and up I think, AFAIK 777s are still regular) have big-arse diesel engines but the wheels are actually driven by electric motors. Saves having monster driveshafts & diffs...Originally posted by JabberWockyOn a Perth trip a few years a ago we dropped into the super pit near Kalgoorlie or Koolgardie, cant remember which. man that last post just fucked with me head! (or is it just me because its late?)Originally posted by jmacBut on seatbelts - I don't think they should be mandatory for adults, but for under 18s. I reckon make them mandatory up till then, and provide plenty of graphic evidence supporting their use to school age children, and then if they hit adulthood and don't choose to wear them, think of the future without these fucken idiots around...
