meridian motorsport are the agents for the datalogger with gps/g sensors and video overplay. They cost around $1500. and will keep a couple of hundred laps on the CF card. Can devide track into segments, replay video and watch g sensor feeds as well as steering angle and 6 other channels. Piccy of one is on the back of race.

The adl can be used to show a plus/minus from best lap.

Can also be used to show maximum speeds on straights compared to previous maximums.

Can also do sector times on the hop, compared to previous laps.

      I want one!!

It has an IR beacon but can also use a magnetic strip if wanted. PM if interested
Thanks for the offer Chris but it now looks like a couple of us will share a new one. So if anyone else is interested in it.........

I'm part way through developing an in car display, and it'll be significantly cheaper than the current offerings above It has to wait till I've developed the current system's reliability more though...

Why would you use one of those when for the same money or less you can by a proper logger with full analysis. Bang for the buck Mychron is streets ahead of anyone else in the data logging scene. Believe me when I say that it will give you more info than you can use readily. The Mychron Gold, track maps which is an absolute must. Have a look at this new logger. For $885 it holds 10,000 laps!

              http://www.aim-sportsystems.com/tglog-info_page.htm

I have no commercial interest in the product, I have just been using these loggers for about 8 years and apart from a few connecter and plug problems have had no trouble at all. Karts are a far tougher environment than cars on this sort equipment and I am well pleased. The software enables full on analysis and full instrument replay with multiple lap simulation replay which is a real eye opener. It is possible to see where time was lost in comparison to other selected laps as a video replay on the track map.

mini mate- without g sensors all that is is a rpm logger with a built in timer.

To clatify, with a g sensor or a gps input, a good logger will produce a track map which can be analysed point by point, lap by lap. Not just laptimes and maximum revs, but the actual times overlayed onto a map of the circuit- ie you can see where each lap made up time or lost time, speeds all around the track etc etc.

I love the motec but it is fabulously expensive.

Tell me something I don't know. That logger I linked to is only a glorified lap timer which the original poster asked for. I have been data logging for 8 years on karts all with track maps. Our loggers show all sectors, times, best theoratical lap, and so on, max/mins on all channels , histograms etc. Everyone in cars seem to think they need to spend mega thousands when we have been doing it in karts for under $2,000. You do not need to break the bank to do good data logging. The only limitation is OS/US and that can be got around with yaw sensors front and back given the channels to run it. Damper speed rates are a bit over the top for the average club person and as such needn't be a worry. The latest Mychrons are coming ready to interface with the car ECU though this is getting pretty expensive $4,000? The secret to the whole thing is the analysis software. Go ahead and spend thousands you don't need to, no skin off my nose. I would rather put that money into making the car go faster. When you have done as much logging as I have get back to me.

I assumed from you pointing out a less than comparable logger to the one that Neil mentioned that you didn't know much about them. Sorry if I was wrong.

What is the full featured one called? I downloaded the software but it is pretty clunky. I am interested in all this logging- did the Motec course so I am biased though!!

                    Cheers

260 when do you want one and how often do you want to use it...I may be able to arrange a 'lend' of one, naturally the payback is that you are fiscally responsible for it, it must be returned in the original condition and within a set timeframe and you have to write a report on it for race.
