The mivec mirages seem to be a pretty good thing out of the box for beginners.

Nero, Yes. Under 2 litre should be competitive, they have a lower minimum weight. Something like a lateish (say bubble back) civic with a 2 litre type R engine & gearbox should be a winner, however the up front cost of doing this (cause type R engines are stupid money) is high.
Other than civics you are left with either reasonably heavy cars or inferior suspension layouts.

The mirage cup cars seem to be not bad, the problem in Vic though is that atm it a horsepover championship (sandown/phillip island) and its hard to compete against the big HP rotary's RX7 that handel well and the 500hp V8's as well. But there is room for the Fwd in the under's classes for sure.

Actually they're _very_ cheap atm, you just need to look offshore for them.

Yup 4g63's would be allowed in a mirage... so long as its ANY inline 4cyl from mitsubishi.

                              2.4 4G with 63 head?

that would go pretty well in a light car.

Yes but you'd be in the over 2ltr class and therefor be racing against big HP V8's.. and big HP 13b's....

a turbo 4g63 might make more sence if you wanted to go over 2ltrs..
