I think the funniest thing is that the court took away his 'drivers' licence as well!

So I guess all he needs to do now is hire Mark Skaife as his Butler/ driver :rotflol:

I can just see the conversation now.

Rich guy - Ok smart ass, I hit 250kmh in the bentley, what can you do?

Skaifey - I'm shooting for the big 300 sir....shall we adjourn to the car.

Rich Guy - Good show old boy. It's Game on then, man slave.

Your head is warped, Jason, but it made me laugh.

funny how people on this forums have reacted to it - if it'd been some dude in a WRX, or RX-3 I'm sure people's reactions would have been different. If it'd been some 'ordinary' bloke (on of us?) in a HSV or something less pretentious than the Bentley, then the reactions would have been different again...

At the end of the day, he didn't kill or maim anyone, but - like it or not - he was placing himself and others at a significant risk, regardless of his previous driving history, car or anything else.
Whether this means he should go to gaol or not, if obviously open to debate, but we shouldn't take a 'rot in hell' approach simply because he's cashed up, nor should we really think that he should get off scott free simply because we all know the speeding hysteria is a crock.

i fail to see how he is NOT a hoon?

i also fail to see why he should not be locked up for public endangerment:

ROAD TRANSPORT (SAFETY AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ACT 1999 - SECT 42
        Negligent, furious or reckless driving

        (2) A person must not drive a motor vehicle furiously, recklessly or at a speed or in a manner dangerous to the public, on a road or road related area.

Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units or imprisonment for 9 months or both (in the case of a first offence) or 30 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months or both (in the case of a second or subsequent offence).

the distinct lack of neon's, a huge exhaust tip, crap music blasting from the car and the fact he wasnt caught doing fully sik burn outs saved him meggala.

Needs to rice that shit up, he might get away with lesser punishment then :D

if he's going to give his Bentley a hiding, the Federal Highway and the Hume are probably the best roads in NSW to do it! I say let him off

Depending on the time and place I don't believe that doing 230km/h in a Bentley, or whatever else is built to do it, is entirely dangerous as long as it is not for a sustained period. A quick blat to "test it out" in a reasonable area devoid of human presence, and then a prompt return to the speed limit I don't really have a problem with but most certainly wouldn't make a habit. I know a lot of people on this forum have done exactly that in modified cars that were originally designed for little more than a trip to the shops, so I'll hear nothing from the naysayers.

Doing it in traffic is a different story entirely, but I still think a jail sentence is unreasonable. I'd suggest a 2 year driving ban and (if they must) a suspended sentence.

The guy won't do a day in jail... his lawyer should be shot!

It is a shame this is so 'extreme' (ie 231km/h in traffic instead of 160km/h on a clear highway) as it might just point out that the general public don't believe in the speed kills bollocks. Unfortunately 231km/h in traffic isn't safe in anyone's books and this event does little more than fuel the 'speed kills' bollocks causing the rest of us to get reamed for doing 10 or 20km/h over the limit.

And what about confiscating his fucking car? Surely this is more dangerous than a burnout in a deserted industrial area at 11pm.

Can you extrapolate on that statement ? Because I think its bollocks.

yea that 231 in a built up traffic is pretty scary stuff

Just reminds me of that prince naseem ahmed from where-ever (I think he's based in england, has pommy accent from memory but he's a prine of some arabian country im sure)- anyways- that incredible speed he was doing when that F1 of his smashed into that other car. This would of been just as bad and possibly way worse!

However jail-time is too harsh imo.........cause IMO there's still a big difference between doing the 231km/h and evading traffic with what level of safety you can at that speed ..........to driving like a total knob at 231km/h doing 'fully sic' drifts and taking people out with you.
Lets not forget people- other humans are allowed to do this to a point, police, amublances, fire-engines if they have something IMPORTANT to get to-- eg fire engines on way to 911.....and a cop car doing 200km/h is 10times less safe then that bentley or whatever it is presuming both drivers are of reasonable skill levels with their own cars.

Not justifying it- just making some points that are valid (once again- IMO).
Nothing to see here, move along...

Was it open highway or in traffic though...?

Sure its too quick but jail time? moron judges believing gumbyment propaganda I thought judges would generally be a little smarter than that

i also note he was allegedly 'braking heavily' when the 231 was scored?

bentley or not, it takes a fucking long time to stop ANY car from over 230km/h

he was NOT on a racetrack, he was driving on an open highway, with other cars - it was not even a proper FREEWAY (where you dont have cross roads)

so he was driving in a manner "dangerous to the public", anyone who reckons he wasnt because it was a bentley, the road is probably the best roads in NSW to do it or whatever else - is pulling their puds...

It's pretty good publicity for Bentley though, he is a "bad boy billionaire".

flygti was stoped n G'ed up to do a a burn out,n as we all no it doesnt take much to get him g'ed, so he did the burnout but who could blame him he had earned it with the effort he put in to be in the cruise and help it go ahead safely

I'd hope that a cop doing 200km/h would be reasonably safe, they do get some driver training don't they? Fairly sure they do

Have to agree with tinkerbell too, he wasn't on a race track or the Autobahn...our roads aren't meant for that type of speed, because there are side inlet roads....OMG imagine the carnage with 2+ tonne of bentley hitting mrs average and kids in a Corolla sedan
