That rev limiter is pretty basic though- like a factory limiter.
Motec has a spark or fuel cut, and can be tuned to run pretty smoothly and cut very softly- however, the more angry the engine, the harder it is to limit smoothly at full throttle. Hence the move to electronic throttles on big hairy engines.
