    Cleaning products for throttle body???

    Hey all.
My old Bimmer with it's "advanced" vacuum controlled idle/ignition setup needs a big clean.
What products are good at removing carbon/gunk buildup?

I'm thinking just some degreaser and a tooth brush but feel free to suggest anything else.

CRC sell a Throttle Body Cleaner, which looks, smells and acts much like Carby Cleaner.

In fact I think the packaging says ("can also be used on carbies").

carbie cleaner is good because it is designed so it doesnt leave an oily residue. It really doesnt matter much mate, just soak the thing and attack it with a tooth brush if you cant get it all clean.

When in doubt, assume I'm talking shit.

Throttle body cleaner is not as harsh as carby cleaner. Nulon make a good one too. Apparently carby cleaner can melt bits of the injectors - not nice.

The plastic maybe if you soak it for long enough.

The throttle body is quite a long distance away from them though, i imagine he is going to unbolt it aswell.

you imagine right the throttle body won't be in the car when I clean it. I'm not a gynecologist.

Although I could be, for the right woman :D

Well it's all clean now and the car's idle is smoother however I also discovered some other problems...
need some new wheel bearings for the front.
need to get the radiator cleaned/replaced and fit a new thermostat as I currently don't have one.... slack previous owners... grrr.

Damn, should have left the TB dirty then hey :p :D

Are the conventional wheel bearings or sealed press in exxy ones? I dunno whats worse - forking out for sealed ones & paying someone with a press to fit them or packing the conventional ones by hand.
