Thanks for the comments guys I actually was thinking of going two tone same colours this one. I also loved the look of the front roof chop this one has which exaggerates the fastback shape of it, looks hot. Love that volksrod site though, the sheriff car is badass.

Mine will be a slightly darker body colour with the same red ragtop though, not going two tone though. It's too many colours and I am afraid of getting sick of it. I reckon Monotone looks more minimal, easier to detail where colours stop and start and a bit less fussy with interior colours not matching etc I have bought the paint through TAFE, for about $30/Litre that is PPG COB Gloss 2 pack. Retail is a few times that AFAIK. The course paid for itself in the saving I made.

911sc: The ragtop clip is from a factory Golde ragtop car, there are repro headliners and ragtop tops available from the states in lots of different colours. Did you say you had a proper cabrio decklid??? Where'd you score that from?

Looks great so far, good luck with the buildup. Makes me wish I did a trade rather than being a pen pusher.

I'm a pen(mouse) pusher too during the day, I do those TAFE courses at night. Yep, will be/have been panelbeating, prepping and painting it all myself. Will be building the engine etc too. I will farm out the headliner/upholstery as I would be pretty clueless about how to do that.

260det: heh looked pretty bizarre to me without the doorsill too! Although I have gotten used to seeing it body off pan

my old man did some work for peter korsche and bought the decklid while he was there it's sitting next to the 60 atm. haven't done anything to the car in 4 years so it's about time something happened.

please don't chop the roof, and if you're going to lower it at least use lowered spindles, not the sway-a-way weld in mounts.

that colour is growing on me, i used to think it looked like primer but i'm considering painting one of my mercs in it, whats it called and is it a berger colour? my '60 is strato blue.

Nope not chopping the roof, dont have the guts or the motivation to do it, but I do like chops The beam has a weld in adjuster on the lower one, I know drop spindles are better though, even though they increase track (which probably isnt a bad thing).

The colour is a 1960 VW colour called Anthracite (Anthrazit in German). It was just colour matched by eye. Not a berger colour, I found it originally in a Standox colour chip booklet. Here's a pic of a car painted in it http://thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_p...?pic_id=193909

I think it's a slightly darker colour, that oval is sleeper's on the AVD forum right?? Nice 356 motor, I've never actually worked on one but they seem to have all these little nice details.

Those nice little details are proving to be expensive to rebuild.... :/
