    Rewiring the track car

Can people give this list a once over and suggest if i need any more wires than what i have listed here. The Terratrip and map lights will be accomodated for with an empty plug as its if i do any tarmac rallies like the Dutton etc.

    Wiring - Front:
    2x30A(10A) - Headlights High/Low
    2x7A(2A) - Indicators
    1x30A(17A) - Thermofan
    1x7A(4A) - Parklights
    *70A capability for future lighting

    Wiring - Interior:
    1x7A(SFA) - Switch Signals
    1x15A(7.5-10A) - Dash Lighting
    1x30A(20A) - Ignition
    1x30A(20A) - Starter
    1x15A(10A) - ECU
    1x30A - Terratrip (future)
    1x15A - Map Lights (future)
    3x20A(?A) - Wiper Motor
    1x30A(?A) - Fuel Pumps (2)

    Wiring - Rear:
    2x7A(2A) - Indicators
    2x7A(4A) - Brake Lights
    2x7A(4A) - Park Lights
    1x7A(2A) - Reverse Lights
    Any suggestions?

EDIT: Fuse amperage in brackets (estimated)

Is the "1x" one wire or one complete high side and low side circuit, i.e two wires?

Single wire, using the chassis as localised ground.
Certainly not running more wires than are absolutely necessary.

you said you might do tarmac rallys, if you might need a map light what about wires for spot lights.

also what about some type od demister or you just going to rely on some type of anti-fog product like rain-x

True, i have allocated an 8awg terminal already for extra front lighting when it is needed, thats why i didnt specify it.
As for the demister, ill just try not to breathe

what sizes are the wires for all those calculated amps? If you have 100w spotlights on 12v then 3mm 10A wire for each should suffice?

I'm far from an expert, but when building my off road buggy, I completely rewired the whole thing, and found that for all my electrics - thermo fan, spots, regular headlights, etc 10A wire was sufficient.

also how are you including relays etc. or is this list simply stating the max amps for each system?

maybe something extra - do you need the windscreen waterspray system?
what about wiring for gauges etc

Relays are included, and will be easily accessable from within the cabin. The spots would be on a removable rig and so im merely leaving an 8awg spot unoccupied in the distribution block for it. The 30A wires to the headlights, starter, and ignition is most definately needed for these. Most of the other wires are at, or close to, the limit of the rating for the wires. Tail lights are 21W at 12v gives around 2A per light, and with 4 im just erring on the safe side. I have some quite light gauge 7A wiring, so i can afford to run two 7A wires rather than a single 10A wire.

But yes, the list is the max amperage for the wire link of the system, all will be fused appropriately.

              EDIT:
Im ditching the windscreen washing system, and the stock dash cluster. I havnt included ECU wiring, nor have i included the gauge wiring, although the lighting system is included.

Petrol pumps? Go big on the wire size for EFI, particularly if there is a rising rate regulator. Turbo? On big boost the current draw for an EFI pump can go way up.

                Fuel gauge?

what sort of "safety factor" do you allow. ie you have allowed a 30A wire for the thermo, but what is its caculated wattage?

                    NA.
I didnt include the fuelling system in that estimate, but obviously that is quite important and i will add it in now.
The safety factor is normally a 2x multiplier, but is pushed a bit for non-critical items, such as the tail lights (where i can remove 2 of 4)

takai, if you are thinking of doing any tarmac styleee rallies, you'll have to keep the window washer and at least the electric fan and air hoses for blowing air onto the front screen- else go for a Supertaxi styleee heated screen, otherwise no passy scrutineering...

Ah that is very good to know, any ideas on how much the heated screen transfers cost these days?

Im planning to rip out all the blower bits due to the weight involved, and that they dont care for circuit scrute these days. Maybe i could pass with a little 120mm computer fan rigged to the air ducts
