I brought a set of Webers the other week.
I doing an old school project as the SR 1600 is giving me the shits.
A15, twin 40 webers, bathurst globes reliving my youth.
Actually the gun car for pre 64 would be a falcon sprint...but its got twice as many cyls as you want. Light though, with fibreglass front panels & lots of good bits
That sounds about right fro. L18 crank would still be required and I would run twin webbers. Getting a 1600 to really hammer under these rules may prove to be too difficult.
Haven't even heard of a Sunny Excellent but a 120Y with a L14/L16 could be useful but I dont know whether it would qualify. I would assume the sub-1500cc class would be taken out by the Mini's although there are some competitive Escorts and I have seen a Datsun 1000.
How much do BMW 2002's go for? I'm assuming parts would be fairly exy...

Falcon sprint would definately be a goer but finding one could be difficult. There was one hammering around a while ago. In fact with Nc could a Capri be built as a Perana and be entered? I'm guessing no as I don't think they competed in Group C...
Surely a 1600 would be a better go than a corolla? I have no idea about corona's except the beer and have heard of a crown eight but dont know more than that.

"Group Nb is for series production type touring cars manufactured prior to 31st December 1964 of which 100 of the particular model must have been produced.
The regulations for Group Nb are a re-introduction of what were known as “Appendix J” regulations which were current until the end of 1964, with only minor modifications to cater for contemporary requirements and practices. "
"Group Nc is for touring cars of a make and model which competed in Australia between 1st January 1965 and 31st December 1972 in either the Australian Touring Car Championship or in races specifically for the 3rd Category Group C Improved Touring Cars. "

Jim Richards has a falcon Sprint that he is building up as a tarmac rally car...
Perana is a weird one as far as homologation goes due to the whole aparteid thing. Basically the world (not even the FIA) wasnt talking to South Africa so the cars were never homologated except one that apparently went to england briefly as a group 1 car (which actually doesnt help you with any current category, as such it isnt generally recognised as a homologated car). The only reason it is OK to run in tarmac rallies is that they run on limited production numbers & not homologated vehicles, so as to allow a more diverse field.
Re eligiability, dont the cars have to have run here or been sold here or something?
Cars are meant to have been in the Australian Touring Car Championship, Group C of the day, or Series Production Racing. You can apply to the Historic Eligiblity Committee for authorisation to run something, though, but you'd need to provide docco on how/why...
Right now I'm eating scrambled egg. With a comb! Out of a shoe!
My cousin of hot rod fame had a red one of these a few years back so I might hit him up with some questions... I reckon once finding one, modifying it wouldnt be too difficult.
