Wes Anderson sold his Giulia Ti not that long ago. Dark blue one with white stripes. The original builders of the car reckon there's a shitload more time in it if Wes knew where to look The original car was a blinder, it had a short stroke 1600 engine in it which revved to something stupid, and sounded awesome. Wes had a more regular 1600 in it though. The old Giulia can be made pretty competitive, but it depends.... how fast do you want to go = how much money do you want to spend?

fiat 124, I can get you a fiat coupe 124AC, were run at bathurst etc. different class as 1438 or 1608cc. Also 124 spider is often run is historics.

Are you allowed to run the AC with the 1608 engine in Historics?

honda S600? :D can get you two in pieces...not cheap tho ($5k)

Toyota Crown, '64 model? came with an R series 4 pot. fucking horrible though. can get you any number for not too much though.

Morris 1100S? slightly bigger than a mini, handles just as well, and a little more stable (bigger wheelbase) but heavier. S was 1275cc same as the cooper S minis. Morris 1300/1500 was the same car but with the marina 1300 or 1500cc motor. all of these are worthless and still not uncommon.

              Renault 10?

VW Type 3? not quite as weird looking as a beetle, all else the same. had slightly bigger brakes. think they started in '64?

Pre 64, to add to Nafe's Alfa suggestions, you could use one of these, a Giulia Sprint GT, 1600cc engine

and it definitely adheres to nero's rust criteria

The 1600 has the IRS & considerably better parts availability due to popularity. However, when were the first Levin Sprinters made? They had the 8V twin-cam 2TG's in them ... because there's so much knowledge in getting Celicas with the same engine going, maybe the Corolla could be made to go too?

                    *edit*
Bzzt ... first Corolla rolled off the production line in '66.

DId they have 18rg's or 2tg's?

Edit - Forg changed his mind from 18rg to 2tg

Forg did indeed change his mind, once he found the correct info.

Wonder if the archaic-but-bulletproof Volvo 120-series could be used for anything useful? I have a feeling they may be too top-heavy, but you could get over 200hp out of the 2.0 using factory parts ... dunno, never really looked into them. A 142 would probably be good, but too new.

no, I saw a 144 race at winton historics. There was also the volvo B20 Repco Powerflow heads on Ebay recently...though you may not be able to use it in historics.
                          Wasn't there a 1200 sprinter?

Don't think there was a Sprinter before Corolla; which was 1966.
I thought the goal was pre-1964? [Hence the no-142's comment]

damned if I know what class it was in. What I did notice was that it had the most neg camber I have ever seen on a car

Surprisingly the price of parts are not that bad, depending where you source them.

Bill Cutler's 2002 is very competitive in Nc and was giving a bit of curry to the V6 capris at Phillip Is earlier this year.
