There's no doubt buying one over a more capable, reliable, safer modern WRX/Evo would be a totally irrational decision - but for some reason you just would.

A deciding factor in my car buying process is how I'd feel seeing a *insert car here* upon opening the garage door at 5am one morning for a run up the twisties. If the adrenalin isn't likely to be pumping, then it gets crossed off the list. That's where the 'Grale kills the Evo/WRX.

P.S. Those seats are Connolly leather - maybe that explains the price!

Speaking Lancia's for sale. I saw this Gamma Coupe on Car Sales the other day. Don't think I'd be in a big hurry to pay $24K for it though.

Yep, the integrale might be quicker but that is as relevant as saying an evo is quicker than it.

At least the T16 won the last championship...
The Delta wasn't Group B, but Group A - it was Lancia's replacement for their Gp B S4. Yes, the 205T16 won the championship twice, but then Gp B stopped and Lancia then went on to win 6 manufacturers titles in a row. They have won more rallies than any other manufacturer.

If I could choose any car from the various eras, then:
pre WRC (the WRC started in '73): BMC Mini Cooper S
          Early WRC: Alpine Renault A110
A bit later: Fiat 131 Abarth
Group B: Peugeot 205T16 Evo II
Group A: Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo
WRC: Its hard to go past the dominant Citroen Xsara, but for a time the Peugeot 206 was the machine.

Its odd how the Europeans dominate - the only hard choice was the Fiat over the MkII BDG Escort. Even though Tommi's Mitsu years were a pretty comprehensive demolition of the opposition, they don't excite. Subaru always seem second best.

Edit: or maybe Edo was on about the S4 and not the Delta. Anywhoo, waddya gonna do.

'76 1380 Clubman (I really should fix it)
'86 AE82 Twin Cam (cunts trashed it, gone to the wrecker)
'85 JD Camira rally car (I trashed it, now its a Lanos)

The only downside to the Integrale is that it looks a bit too much like the first of the Ford Lasers. It won't impress anyone who doesn't know exactly what it is.

Of course, therein lies most of its appeal.

I'm not entirely sure but is the road-car 205 T16 is front engined but the rally version is mid engined?

Bleh, yeah I meant the S4 that Rowdy posted a pic of.

Id have that over a Group A integrale in a flash, early group A cars were pox. Id still have the 037 & stratos in preference to either though.

No T16 pug was ever front engined...

Who wouldn't, but a road going version of either is going to cost a tad more than $67K

Nah sory Cal - it doesn't know if it is going forward or backwards. I wouldn't kick it out of bed, but it wouldn't be my 5th pick or anything.
