It is on foxtel on BBC News. Never watch it because I want the hour long episode not the 20 minute highlights, If they showed the hour long version I'd watch it. 5th Gear is also on Lifestyle on Monday nights.

Who doesn't think they're individual and better (in at least some respects) than other people?

Top Gear would not be PC, lefty, gay or trendy enough for the ABC or SBS, TG caters too much for the ordinary hetro bloke

Top Gear would fit in fine on SBS in that regard; if they can have Mythbusters blowing shit up, they can have Top Gear.
It's probably too expensive for either of ABC or SBS, and nobody with money believes it'll rate well enough to be bothered buying it. It's not a cop show, after all!
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

ABC buys heaps of BBC stuff, see above reasons why no Top Gear.

I think SBS too much pride themselves on not being mainstream it seems. That combinations of shows would have too much of the population watching

Must be why they're broadcasting the Ashes.

Fro - maybe. I reckon follow Top Gear with repeats of Torque with Peter Wherrett. That also gets the SBS demographic out of the way (Wow, that was a cheap joke. I'm so cruel sometimes. Sorry, Mr Wherrett).

Only if TG was set in Victorian England, and Clarkson wore a wig and pansy outfit (no more so that usual I guess). But 1 hour a week about the latest in horse and carts would be as boring as batshit.
