Nah, the Mazda doesnt have issues. The driver does.

Muz, edo- Mr Wilson knows more about that mazda than I, but I think the complete absense of roll stiffness in the rear has been addressed to a degree, I think it's setup soft for a reason though..

yes fro has issues, but that's a greater part of his charm! (hi fro, hope you're feeling better mate!!:D )

The Mazda isn't actually that bad on dirt, but, pretty horrible on the black stuff.

Yeah, but the driver still worries me at times... both of them.

On a completely unrelated topic, hows the new manifold going Ben?

fro's pic was exactly what I was thinking as far as attention getting cover shots go.

I stand by the mazda having serious issues, chances are the driver or someone just wanted to try it with/without something but its doing nothing good there.

Just a great photo that really captures the essence/feeling/vibe of racing. I usually go weak-kneed when I see a photo through the windscreen of a desirable car showing a completely deserted road/circuit in front of it.

                      Agree with comments so far...:

                      - action shot (eg rally car)
                      - some sort of "hero" car (eg Group C racer, etc)

I agree with the above comments that a good action shot would be great.

Also how about a photochopped image on the from cover, an example being a high image of the front of a car with the bonnet cleared out to show the engine.
This can also be used to show the technology (ie suspension, engine etc) used on some cars that might look plain otherwise.

Colour stripe on the top of that magazine. Like a bright red or yellow header for the top 30mm with bold titling. Any bright colour just not Green- we don't want it to crash and burn

Agreed the usual setup newsagents magazine section is sort of like a grandstand. You can only see a portion of the top section of the magazine so i would concentrate on making that more appealing. Once that grabs their attention they will pick the magazine up then you need to win them on the cover shot.

Why not make the entire front cover a poster in itself. Just with the logo of Race Magazine in one corner. So some nice full a3 sized picture of one of the feature cars or from one of the events covered. Everyone picks up the magazine to have a look through it anyway, regardless of what is listed on the cover. It will be big and glossy and would make a good keepsake???

Just thought of something else, how about something free with the magazine. You can give away something like a laser cut keyring, stubby holder, coaster, playing cards with cars on them etc. This way they will always have it with them and it will always remind them of the magazine they go it from.

I know it might be expensive, but it might pay off in the long run.
