Also, just another little idea which i had a thought about the other day. Maybe if workshops dont want to take out a full page ad, or a smaller page ad then they can pay a nominal fee and have their details put in a couple of page listing at the back of the mag. This would be quite useful for the workshops, as they would get more business, better for the readers as we have the names of workshops to use (especially useful if you move cities, or are interstate for a round), and gets some revenue in for you.

Takai, I have already incorporated that idea into next years plans....yep Race will have a first birthday!
The advertisers so far are happy with the response but they are also happy to hear comments from readers of the magazine about the magazine...which is nice as I have not organised a bunch of mates to phone around and talk it up!

I will post a mockup of a couple of new covers to get feedback...this one does get lost on the shelves

Ive got a couple of phone photos of the local newsagent which i will upload tonight, pretty much all of the mags get lost quickly in there.

Im going to perform a test on Friday and get my GF to find as fast as she can a magazine on the racks. Might get a few of our friends to do it, because im betting itll be pretty hard to find any magazine at all, except maybe Hot4s or Speed because of the stinking hot pink covers. :S

Takai, I can't go into in in any detail, but more advertisers have been contacted and it has been suggested that Race will not continue as it will go broke with such a low print run and advertising rate etc...
All crap and I can't believe that people would really say such rubbish...strange world no?
Race has specifically been structured to start off very small and as you can see it is growing.

Race, AMC and Performance Buildups when I can find it are the only mags I bother with now, used to buy a couple of other ones but got a tad sick of 11ty gajillion hp glitter paint gtrs every issue l. I'm sure you can guess which mags I'm talking about. Trying to get a couple of mates to get subs for race, hopefully they will pull their fingers out and sort it!

The strange thing is I can't see who Race would be competition for exactly. There might be a very small amount of cross-over with perf build-ups, but not enough to worry them or me, different markets really.

The only article that is making my eyes bleed is the head porting- so much info, but the layout is awkward to me..

The hillclimb stuff is great, and is relevant to a lot of blokes. Some wild and wooly machinery around that interests most technical heads :D

Ta Muz. The head porting article was really difficult to layout and took 5 goes...still not really happy with it, but it was the best of the lot. Only had limited space you see, as it was I cut the aerodynamics article to make it fit. The tough thing was to think about what people would like to see and what would give information...hence the port view from both ends, which is not that great and the increase in flow with lift...gave me a chance to compare port performance without a calculator. Any suggestions welcome.

What about something like changing the colour of race somewhat like Tripper did, but also adding like a thin white outline around it as well?
