One thing I hope they carry over from the UK show is the unrepentant love of fast powerfull cars, and driving quickly that the hosts display. I'd hate to see the local show watered down to appease the safety nazis, maybe they should challege Scruby to do a quick lap

Wherret was actually quite a good host, and the show was quite popular back in the 70s

I just hope Holden/Ford/Mitsubishi et al don't pay big bucks to have their cars given rave reviews and it becomes the Holden/Ford/Mitsubishi et al show.

yep. and as someone said above, Morley would be good too. as a matter of fact, MOTOR TV would definitely be something I'd watch. Surely it couldn't be that hard to have cameras tag along on road tests etc. They are published by ACP so they would have access to some pretty good resources as far as television goes, one would think

will just be a sell show, rather than for enthusiasts..

Perhaps they could get Ernie Dingo testing 2nd hand Falcons with his cousins? They could drive until the car breaks down, then show us how they fix it and drive some more. Then get pissed!

They have some program called "The Car Show" on Saturday afternoons at around 1.30pm.

It has that Sale of the Century guy on it... Glenn somethingorother. Some dunce of a twit of a woman reviewed the Maserati GT sport. It was really painful!

It is the 'Better Homes and Gardens' for cars.

Erm ... that would be Glenn Ridge, because he's a known car-buff & allegedly not too bad a driver for someone that doesn't do it for a living. That show was always aimed at non-car-fans ... as is drive.com.au, so I suspect this Drive TV show will be too.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I was actually gonna say the same thing (the 'better homes and gardens; part). Glenn Ridge is a decent driver and participates in Targa Tassie etc but has little knowledge of cars. The whole show was directed at joe average rather than car enthusiasts.

If its anything like Top Gear, I think it would go well here but I suspect the new show will be the same as 'The Car Show'.

I hope this new show doesn't suck arse... I really do, and they've done well by picking Michael Stahl, but as previously mentioned they should have paid Morley to do it as well.

One thing that has always bugged me, is why don't the ABC or SBS screen Top Gear sometime during the week? I mean its not as if they couldn't find 1 hour in a whole week somewhere, and its not like they have any trouble getting whatever BBC programmes they want...

They did this show, 5 years or so ago maybe. It was the best show on tv, untill i got Sat TV and started watching top gear.

They pulled it for some reason, Stahl was on it as well.

athlon.. they pulled it cos it was puss... almost as bad as "The car show" ... It didn't rate, and I watched it maybe twice before going, this is a paid ad for the car manufacturers, might as well not bother..
