When my coup succeeds my 1st decree will be fuel at 50c a liter v8 rego to $50 a year, compulsory gun ownership and anybody suing anybody else will face a firing squad.

I will tackle the other serious issues on the 2nd day
On the 1st day you should also fit in a decree to ban censorship and free internet pron once and for all.

On the 7th you can rest, as you will be my god.

Best part about cheap petrol is that it shuts up the morons who walk around talking about peak oil at every opportunity.

How the hell does it do that? Price is down because of market collapse, not because of any other reasons.

It's down to 98.9 now at my local BP. Now if things just dropped a little bit more so that Ultimate is under a dollar, then we can have nice things again.

It stops them backing up their crack pot ideas with comments like "that is why petrol is $1.70 per litre"

Oh goody. Here we go again. And what was it you do for a job again? Strategic planner for an oil exploration company perhaps? Minister of resources for the combined governments of the world?

                Crackpot indeed.

So what exact day did we hit the peak?

It's "Sixty Minutes" economics for people who's lips move when they read the Daily Telegraph on the train.

Bollocks. And who said we hit the peak already. We're up near the top of the curve. If it hasn't already peaked it will in the next short period (I am sure that will be less than 10 years, because it is probably a lot less).

There is a lot of oil left. But usage is increasing exponentially. That is one trend that cannot continue forever - and more to the point, it almost doesn't matter how much is left, because as the usage rate continues to increase, a difference of 100% between one remaining amount or another only makes for a very short time interval between the times when you actually completely run out.

Would you ever fill up at an independent servo?? I have this voice inside that doesn't support them because of dodgy fuels... even though I really should support them... but I instinctively don't fill up there unless I really really have to.

I drive a shitbox, couldnt care less about fuel quality

Wouldnt you be pissed off if you were one of those people who sold a v8 because you couldnt afford the fuel and seeing it now for $1 a litre.....ouch

Well, I need 98, and the "98" that most of those independants have is so oxygenated that it might not ping, but it certainly doesn't make much power (on a normal tune anyway). So I can't use them anyway.

But even in the Subie I won't put in any in. I know they all use dodgy arse imported SE Asian crap. A long while back I did some mileage tests using real fuels and some of these and they were all using at least 10% more juice. Sucked - won't go there again.
