How do the 2.5s respond to mods, thinking a full exhaust just for a bit of extra poke?

Autos are better than the manual, although the MY06 XT has a beefed 5sp.

Ive got a 99GT and very much enjoy it, been in a MY06 XT and they seriously haul for a family car.

The X model has terrible susp and tyres, and the velour is pretty average.

Susp too soft? Whats wrong with the tyres, are still the Geowhatevers? The velour didn't look to bad when I was in one the other day. Then again coming from a Mitsu, its may be a case of not knowing any better.

geolanders are freakin terrible tyres, esp the 215/60/16's on the original model and lower spec current one. the 215/55 R17's are much better.

some 2.5's have oil consumption issues apparently.. I was on the verge on buying a new XT a coupla weeks back after thinking about all the alternatives for a long time. Did the research, got to test drive stage, but we've decided we need a faster rally car instead... :D

but from what I did find out they are a pretty good bus once you piss of the crap tyres

Probably those same people are the type that don't read their owner's manual too... but from what I know here, I know nothing of the Forester and oil.

i think they are surprised that the car actually consumes it.

Some don't know that after 6000kms, there will be less oil than when you started. "I had to top it up with 30ml of oil after 6 months" = "it's got oil consumtion issues"

                              Why not this?

                              its auto, and realistically priced.

Plus the owner really looks after his vehicles.
