Do a google image search on Fiat 500, there are pages and pages of them.

My brother had a couple of them years ago, Some of them are a vertical twin, and apparently they were also made in Austria under licence by the Steya company. They had a horizontally opposed twin. Also apparently the station wagon version had an inline twin which was laid over on it's side.

Bollie, you are talking about the 500 Steyr Puch, rallied to some success. The station wagon was the familiare.

Bambinos rock. Even with the factory setting of somewhere near 5 degrees positive camber- they seem to corner really well. That said every time I saw my boss do it in his I was too busy hosing myself laughing to check speeds. Pretty funny to watch.

they are worth more than you think too.

This is the Arbarth version. I seem to remember there was one running in Targa or something similar. It just stood out in my memory as the engine cover at the rear is raised like a little spoiler!

Thanks Cal. Something more like the top one. I just googled for the first image that I could find.

The top one is based on the 600, ones below are 126's (Niki's). Try googling 850TC, 1000TCR, 600 Abarth etc. The 500 based Abarths were the 595 and IIRC 695 jobbies.

Yeah I knew the 1st one was a 600. Couldn't find any seriously tough 500's, but they must me about. Niki is a direct cousin is it not? Is the 695 SS the hottest of them all Sam?

My next door neighbour used to have a Niki. It used to struggle up the hill so much that sometimes he went down the hill first then turn around to get a bit of a run up :D

Methinks the 695SS is the hottest of the 500 based jobbies. The Niki (IIRC) is more based on the 600. Still had the funky transverse leaf in the front and swing axles out the back like the 600 & 500.

Out of that era I also love the OT1600 (850 sedan based) and OT2000's (850 Coupe based).

While we are on the subject of weird and wonderful Italian chariots of love. Probably my all time favourite ATS 2500GT.

The 14" Lancia rims look cool on that.
