But the 30 odd dollars an hours makes it a bit tight though, hey??? You'd rather do 1 GIO job to 10 RACV ones hey???

but ive got a similar problem too. a few months ago at my local watering hole some drunk dickhead walked completely over my car which was parked in their new carpark and out the front door of their bottle shop. anyway the licencee first said theyll cover it.. then disappeared for a few months on holidays.. after chasing him down he said to email.. no replies. i finally catch up with him when hes on shift and gives me a smash repairer to go to, but says cant promise anything. get car checked over by them, they send it to him and now ive rung and left messages a few times with no reply.

should i just give up and go through my insurer.. bcos hes giving me the run around and just pay to get it repaired.. its over 5 months now.. i did report it to the police and have an event number??

thanks any help would be appreciated.
You should have gone to your insurer 5 months ago... What you have been doing, is what you pay your insurer to do...

not true. where have you heard that from? (someone who knows someone's mate etc...?)

at the end of the day, the insurance is ALWAYS in the win-win situation

NSW beaters get 30 an hour? I'm coming up there. Put it this way, when you get $23/hour and it costs you $25/hour in labour, I'd take a swift kick to the face rather than an RACV job, and I'm not even then owner.

I know of shops down here making lots off the RACV though, although that's because of online work and simply having a stupid quantity of cars coming through in a week. My shop has one other beater, a sprayer (granted one of the best in the state), an ex-sprayer/rough cunt and me. We cant physically DO enough RACV jobs to make ends meet. The game is fucked, but we still play it...
<dan-> so just to clarify this.. your dad's defence against car theft is a swift piss on the face ?

Regarding the french cars, from what i've been able to deduce the wheel and hub are fitted together as blanks (no holes) then a man named jacques gets a drill press and drills between 2 and 7 holes in random locations, the hubs are then tapped (each hole with a different threadform to prevent the wrong bolt going into the wrong hole) and the wheel and hub are bolted together and then attached to the suspension. - Hotgemini

true... but it still "goes through" AAMI....
if the repairer kept on "fucking up" (and he loses the "rating", which can result in less work from the insurance comp.), AAMI will have to bring the vehicle to another one of their preferred smash repairers, until their quality assessor/vehicle owner is happy with it.

for "one particular" preferred repairer, after that, AAMI can/will have to engage another of their preferred repairer.
the repaired items will still have the lifetime warranty thingo....

I had someone back into my car as it was parked on the side of the road. I called AAMI and chose my repairer from those approved by AAMI. Apparently my premium is completely unaffected and AAMI chases the other party to recoup their costs. All pretty neat I thought.
