    Evlhrby

Well 'they' said it would never happen, but EVLHRBY, a superbug-convertable, is now nearly baja-fied.

A few things left to do, like mount up the donaldson aircleaner, fit the small engine cover and get some 14" mud tyres. Then its time to make up the engine cage and front bumper.

    Anyway, some pics of the thing;

Not sure if im totally happy with the front fenders. I think i might cut back another inch to open them up more like the rears.

good stuff. no problem with the rear torsion bars? you'll probably need to make (or modify what you have) a higher mounting rear exhaust system. you might be able to chop it, flip it over and weld it back on, and have a vertical stack muffler :D
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

I havnt actually raised it at all yet. And the exhaust thats there is just the extractors it came with with the muffler unbolted. Since I am making my cages at a mates exhaust shop, while im there we'll workout something for the zorst as well.

I thought baja bugs had a different front bit...
            like the guards or something...

Wasn't the bug that was in pimp my ride a baja?

A normal baja is made out of a standard bug. Because mine is as superbug it has a longer and larger nose and the front fenders go further down. Ill probly end up cutting more of the front fenders off to open up the arches a bit more as well.

you can safely cut off everything in front of the sway bar, as long as you make a short nose cone for it.

I reckon that this was probably in the top couple of cars that they have done on that show:

So, in conclusion you should get one of these things:

Id love a single piece front. If anyone knows of one like the one they used (with the light holes on the side fenders) let me know ASAP.

EDIT: Anyone know where I can DL that episode (non-torrent)

I saw the sweetest bug the other day in Melb. Green with massive neg rear camber and fuch mags etc. Looked the business, as does this.

Well we finally got around to making up a new exhaust for EVLHRBY yesterday to give him the ground clearance and departure angle for some decent jumps.

Its came out great considering we only used pipe from the original extractors and had did all the welding with a gas-less mig on the thin-walled piping. Ill attack it with a flapdisc and give it a spray later, but for now its strong and seals very well.

The cannons didnt end up above the sparkplugs like most cannons as i need clearance there to be able to bolt the cage back onto its mounts (after its been shortened heaps thanks to the new exhaust.)

But the SOUND. Its sounds totally f**king awsome. Like a WRX worked off its tits. Its definatly not quiet, but no EPA or bullshit to worry about up here. Im gonna get some video footage thisarvo so i hope it comes across well.

So far, this little toy has cost me, $300. :thumb
