Yeah, its unreasonable if people threaten straight away, it took me until i was 6 months down the track before i started thinking "what do i have to do to get something done". I was in a accident that wasnt my fault and through repeated stuff up my car wasnt getting fixed. Incidently my insurance company said go ahead and call the department of fair trading. And the department of fair trading didnt seem to care. Basically they said they had to send away to an RTA to get the responsible persons address, and there was a 6 week turn around time. Due to administrative faults they kept sending the request to the wrong states RTA, and didnt find that out for 6 weeks at a time :knock:

Now that is customer service. I'm betting your dad has been talking to every man and his dog about it - and it cost the dealer/BMW absolutelyt f**k all.Originally posted by intehnetmy dad bought the 2006 325i.. windows weren't tinted like he requested, they gave him a 330ci for 2 days while the windows got tinted, and the car came back with the windows tinted, free leather treatment, a free BMW F1 polo, and free BMW F1 hatMarvellous things so quickly get mundane

snot, because Mercs are just better...& aparently so are their dealers.
I reckon if he spoke to the DP & said that he was trading the wifes car in on a merc & he would do the same with the 5 when he gets it back then he might get somewhere.
While he just sooks at work & to the guy who answers the phone in service he will get nowhere. How do these guys who need their hand held 90% of the time make so much money???

I think that anyone who thinks Mercs are better these days are living in the past. I know in Europe (where probably the majority of Mercs are sold), their reputation has dropped significantly since their peak in the late eighties/early nineties. In fact if you tell someone you drive a Mercedes in Holland, they'll probably think you're either a farmer or a taxi driver. Funnily enough Audi seem to be the best regarded luxury brand these days. I guess their designs aren't as offensive as the BMs and not every sales rep drives one.Originally posted by edosnot, because Mercs are just better...& aparently so are their dealers.
Good suggestion, will pass it on!Originally posted by edoI reckon if he spoke to the DP & said that he was trading the wifes car in on a merc & he would do the same with the 5 when he gets it back then he might get somewhere."If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horsepower." - Mark Donahue Penske Porsche 917

The old man has driven V8 S & E class Mercs since the beginning of time, and he's now completely over the service at their dealerships. He reckons the places are swarming with cheapo A & C classes worth a quarter of his car, and the service is suffering. His most recent E500 was recalled twice and had over $20k of waranty work spent on it. Not surprisingly he shifted it just before the warranty expired.
I keep dropping words like Bentley and Aston Martin - they would probably break down more often but at least it would be in style!

Ok. Update. The car has a completely new gearbox (he suspects they tried two!) and he thinks that the shifting is really harsh for some reason (ie clunks into gear). I have suggested that this may be the setting on the SMG (ie faster shift) but he doesn't think so.
Is there anything he could do? Ie they supposedly fixed it and he's not happy with the repairs? Has this now shifted from being an issue with warranty to an issue with the quality of repairs done to the car?"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horsepower." - Mark Donahue Penske Porsche 917
