Teejay i know it is NSW and your in WA but the only time ive been called by the cops, they gave a lot of info, first and last name rank and station they worked out off and the area they were based in. long story short i traded a shitter in at a dodgy car yard they didnt transfer the rego into there name and sold it, the people that purchased it didnt transfer the rego either, instead done various crimes with it such as dive offs from servos.

If they call again ask for a case/compliant number and there full detials. if they dont supply them your leg is getting pulled.

if any of the police officers here want to post in a official manner just give one of US mods a PM and we can post on your behave if you dont wont your cop status revealed, keep the good work up glenno and bigmuz, both are pf scape goats and get blammed for killing the forums, and all Alter Egos

Well dude, she did give me rank, first and last name, and division she worked for.

I dont remember her last name, and she said she worked for the traffic branch, which is based in east perth in WA.

Im not overly fussed anymore, but be keen to see if it ends being mates or serious...

Anyway spoke to one of our boys who used to be a copper in rockingham, he told me a bit about what WA boys can access...and its nothing different, only thing we cant do is bridge family or marriage tree's. IE, I can search for john smith, and jill smith, and have no way of knowing their siblings or married etc. WA can.

Same goes for the information though, our information is dependant solely on what information you supply the government. And even then its mainly only main roads/RTA etc.

As an example, if I look myself up (for training purposes only...), on a person search, I get my last two employers phone numbers, my last 4 mobile numbers, two email addresses, a home number, my old address + new, the 4 cars I've had registered in my name. Be stuffed if I remember when I gave that information out.

But yes, if they "really" need your number, position in australia by gsm, etc its doable, but its a LOT higher than station level.

Yeah I'd be asking for their details and giving them a call back. Not a big fan of giving my personal info to someone who calls up and says they are a Cop. Not too hard for someone with even a relatively low IQ to call you up and say:

"Hi this is Constable John Smith from the Ferndale Police Station Traffic branch, badge number Z07334".

I just made that all up then and if you didn't know the numbering conventions for their badges (I don't), who would be any the wiser?

Cops may phone you. But they will never use their first name, it's always "Constable Smith" or whatever not "Constable Lisa".

Don't be so sure, you can be in alot of trouble if people are willing to sign a statuary declaration saying that they saw you doing such and such at a certain time and place.. I've also been rung on my mobile by the police before and paperwork eventuated from it..

Mates make prank calls but they'd have to be pretty bloody good at it to finish off a call with no laughing/background chatter and leave you semi-convinced and then not take credit for it.. I'd say it probably was the police

Just got a phone call ,

Introduced as Constable Lisa .. something from WA Traffic Police, wanting to ask my questions in relation to illegal racing ..... The number came up as unknown, and the call lasted 12 minutes.

Proceeded to ask me all these questions about what I do etc, my car, driving record, all the while I was thinking this sounds too stupid to be real. I obviously told her as much as she needed to know, which to be honest isnt really alot. I asked her if she was being serious, to which I got "this is a very serious matter" blah blah blah

I finally got fed up and told her that if she had any real questions to call my lawyer, said have a good day, and hung up.

But what I want to know is can the police actually do that, or do I have a bunch of mates pissing themselves laughing atm?
