Mine has had 13k spent since the last time it saw the track...

The most fun i ever had was my first year of racing - the whole car owed me 9k - sure it was slow, but i always beat a few cars home and if i'd thrown it into the wall i'd have only cried for 5 minutes then built another one !!

Moral of the story - NEVER EVER build a car from scratch !!!!!!!!

    HTH !!
see, I wish someone had told me this before I started....

Another option Turbo Starion Ithas a huge spares package and a trailer. If the seller is happy to sell the package without the trailer, you might be able to negotiate a sale price for the car closer to your budget.

You would never build a car like that for anywhere near that kind of money.

Yep that's the one I posted on the previous page. You could get that up and running for less than 8k...

I Still think a Starlet GT provides great fun and times for the money.

And i would still recommend an Alfa over a Datto or Escort.

How many Datto's came second at Bathurst?

              Thanks,
              12 Second Boosted Alfa

How many Alfas are competitive in any class now? A lot less than 30-40 years ago.....

The last Alfa I saw racing really competitively in NSW was back around 92-93 when I watched a 105 racing in the top 5 of the Under 2L Club Cars (now IPRA). Nothing since then though. Even the fastest of the supersprint Alfas (1:54 around Eastern Creek) would struggle in IPRA. Alfas don't do too badly in Historics, but again, mid-field is about the best you'd get.

If you want cheap and fast = Datto
If you want cheap and not fast = Alfa

well, im still looking bought a nice v8 soarer to get around in, But still want to drive to track, then do some racing, so rego would be nice I have abit more to spend, still would like a datto, eg bluebird, fullcage, strong l20b, I think putting something together is most of the fun, knowing what you have done etc,
                      No Power chips thanks

                        Good luck with it

But remember we told you so in 12 months time when you've spent 2x more than you intended and going 3-4s slower than you like

I am sure I saw a Bluebird with an FJ20 for sale not long ago, used to be a NSW U/2L IPRA car....

Murph, I have been tempted many a time to go the FVee route. But now living in Newcastle, I suspect I'll be go karting.
