The WRX has a space saver, get a flat and you put it on, just like you would any other tyre. It has warnings all over it about driving under 80KPH and not too far. It's certainly drivable for a day untill you get you other tyre fixed, so I don't see what the problem with them really is? Not to mention that it is one less performance tyre to buy.

The complain I think is if you are driving that WRX from Adelaide to Melbourne and you have a flat, how hard it would be to find a WRX tyre of the same make and model as the OEM or even the ones you've chosen... then 80km/h is going to make that a long journey till you get into the main cities.

the way I see it, it's just a factor you have to take into account when buying a car. If it's an issue for you, then don't buy the car

Half the time anyone with a fullsize spare probably doesnt check it and it's flat anyway :D

I've had 3 punctures in 13 years - one whilst driving (so I pulled over and changed the wheel), the others were slower leaks which were temporarily fixed by visiting a servo and pumping the tyre up for the trip home.
