Evo_lee, but these cars aren't exactly dirt cheap, they are generally bought by adults on good incomes, and I'm sure there is market for versions that don't come dressed in a clown suit.

If I could afford cars in that sort of price range (I wish ) I would buy a Golf R32 ahead of them purely because of their styling/image, they are just too attention seeking for my taste. Also, an understated appearance would bring far less unwanted attention from police, swedes etc.

WRC doesn't rely on homologation specials any more, so I don't think that is such a valid reason now, well, at least they don't have to make all of them with big wings and various other aero-bollocks any more.

I'd rather have an EVO IX. Both cars have shit interiors personally, but the EVO is the lesser of the two evils when it comes to exteriors. And the EVO IX is as fast on normal tyres (i.e. it doesn't need semi-slicks to do the times the Scooby does).

But who gives a fark what other people think, if you're happy with the car, that's all that matters.

Hamish, I agree there should be a model without all that kit...luxury version, in case of Mazda a Mazda 6 MPS. But again whatever sells and we once were and there will always be boy racers!

Speaking of which I'd like a R32, but still too expensive for me.

So many people forget that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally really like the new look of the WRX. It looks less tacky than the 'classic' with it's grills on the boot and 'boxy' appearence. It has a smooth but agressive look.

It annoys me when car magazines make a big deal about the appearence of a car, when it is just a matter of taste in most casses (except for SOME of Bangle's BMWs, the're just ugly! )

Anyone know what model Recaro's they are, or if they're specific to the Sti?

Its impossible to say it looks worse then the bug eye version.

And if you want to test the gearbox with 6k launches, now is the time, whilst its under warranty.

The BA has gaps everywhere, uneven joins, sharp corners hanging out instead of flush with the body and the plastic rarely sits still. You can prod your index finger in various spots on the interior and watch them move in the BA, but no such problem in Subarus - tight as.
The BA is not really what I was comparing to: go sit in say a Golf GTI audi S3 etc.

I also wanted an EVO, but for different reasons

                      1. Better alarm, GPS tracking, GSM talkback etc.
                      2. Better warranty, 5 years + 10 years on drivetrain (includes turbo)

but the dicks could NOT fit a towbar to it, so Subaru got the business.

An STI 6sp box will handle 7k clutch dumps with ease.

                        THese boxes are strong mofos.
they take 350kw atws as well.

As for plastics, back in 2001, the interior was excellent quality and stylish. The quality hasn't changed, but it is getting drab.

you can't even compare the s204 ti the Oz deliverd car.
Would you say it is the best turbo car ever?

Who told you that, it wasn't the dealer I hope??

EVO IX can fit a tow bar, in fact the stock IX rear bumper has a removable section to make fitment tidy, which is something alot of people were pissed off the STi doesn't have...
