Truth be known; if we're using the standard wheels on the cars in order to compare, Ol' Bug Eyes looks better to me. The new STi (& WRX) wheels are quite rank.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

EVO IX can fit a tow bar, in fact the stock IX rear bumper has a removable section to make fitment tidy, which is something alot of people were pissed off the STi doesn't have...
Then I guess it's news to both Alan Heaphy (spelling), Team Principle Ralliart and Scott (Forget the lastname) Ralliart Rep at Northshore Mitsubishi. I think the fact that the cut out is there versus actually getting a towbar fitted are two seperate things. I said to them just fit the povo pack lancer towbar and they replied that cars are completely different and have different mounting points. Fair enough, but they couldn't fit one regardless

At the end of the day I was getting nowhere fast in the Evo (pun intended), whereas Subaru dealer checked with workshop got reply back the next day saying no probs, except rear undertray diffuser would need to be removed.

but the dicks could NOT fit a towbar to it, so Subaru got the business.
Be honest... how quick is the new STI compared to the Evo IX ? Your thoughts.

With my limited test drives in both cars, the EVO did feel a little better ... to me I felt the turbo coming harder than STI. Also EVO felt great around corners, where STI as so much as EVO. BUT, this was on a test where Mitsu had a young sales man urge me to "try out" the car, whereas in the Subaru I was with an older gentlemen so I didn't feel comfortable really going hard in it.

Now that I have the car (STI) and have put 450 Km's on it in one day, it feels great, cornering is absolutely unreal, it just sticks to the road, whether this is the chasis at work or the tyres (as Nafe suggests) I don't give a shit, it's end result that matters.

One thing I will say is they a bugger of a with to get off the line. the clutch pedal feels so soft compared to the XR6T (which was rock hard). I seem to keep release to clutch to quickly, also the clutches pedal travel seem to long for my liking.

I think Dec/05 Motor had a EVO9 - STI - HSV head to head shoot out. EVO made more KWs on the dyno (STI apparanty runs rich), EVO was slightly quicker 0-100 and 0-400, STI slightly quicker around Oran Park.

ahhh scott. that guy almost put me off buying an evo 9.
luckily he didnt and i bought one anyway (of someone else)

That wouldn't surprise me, Mitsubishi service from the majority of dealers is terrible, and a thing of complaint for many EVO owners and purchasers...

That said I will double check to make sure I'm not wrong on that....

Northshore Mitsu...so I guess they quoted you retail, gave you the bullshit story that they are selling like hotcakes, no discount, but we might through in some free mats....while the other dealers are doing deals and selling cars...what did they quote you as the best price on road?

I'm really surprised that the Mitsubishi dealers are giving poor service. Do they not realise the issues the manufacturer is having!? Surely they would be trying to sell every car they could regardless of whether they have to lose a small amount of their profit margin?

As for the comments regarding the boy racer exteriors, I'm not a fan of them either but it would never stop me from buying one if the opportunity presented itself. When a car is as quick point to point as either the STi or Evo I think you'd spend more time in the driver's seat than looking at it (atleast I would because they're both farking ugly).
I do not like V slicers.

It was pretty much irrelevant what he wanted, as I already had a National Fleet quote in my hot little hands, if he could offer me a better deal than national fleet price then I would have (if I decided on the EVO) purchased from him.

Yeah I like the one about selling like hotcakes, he tried that on me, except for the FACT that he had one on display in showroom and another 3-4 out the back in various colours and suspension packs etc.

I don't think I ever got the let's do a deal stage as the lack towbar pretty much put a dent to that but I think the EVO was about $1000.00 cheap on the road than the STi, but the STi was quoted with a towbar and the EVO without. If you want I can check my quotes at work and put and update on this thread?

I am glad you didn't buy an EVO IX then..

The IX's Security system is crap compared to the VIII's.

In fact, if you can steal an EVO IX without the owner knowing - then it's yours until the Owner finds out and contacts the company and begins tracking... It's totally passive and NOT connected to the Alarm... Poor form..

Mitsubishi fucked up big time when they changed to Intelematics for the IX.
They should have stuck with the previous Intellitrac system - all to save a few hundred dollars.

Check out some of the Mitsu and Lancer/Evo forums - the blokes who own them are having HEAPS of problems.
