is that all?
2 of my friends had them.. never again (both bought new..)
they went through 2 sets of front rotors over 20,000ks.. covered under warranty mind you. not driven hard either.. pads.. they were replaced alot
the odometer just stops working.. you'll notice this once then speedo jumps a little.. then it slowly dies after time.. then the odometer stops with it..
holden never picked this up in either my mates' car, thus they didnt do bad with the trade-ins.. that was the only high point to owning the car.. although you never knew how fast you were going..
the alternator went, not once, but three times. we suspect the car did 40,000ks all in all.. manual.. the auto only had rotors replaced, and speedo stopped too.
both lemons..i'd advise anyone to steer clear of them..
the auto had the a/c compressor die as well

There's someone here at work with one, the only problem he's ever had is the CD player breaking & not spitting-out CD's. I've suggested he take the Sacrificial Anode approach & not get the CD player fixed, just to be sure the car doesn't say "oh, no probs now, something else electrical must by-needs break then".Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Open up the plastic electrical loom cover on top of the motor. 9 out of 10 times the insulation will be brittle and fall apart when the wiring is bumped or moved exposing the bare wires. This cause the model to have all different problems which come and go making diagnosis hard (if you are a Holden mechanic).
All the Opel cars have this fault (ignoring the shit build quality). Holden does not care bout the problem and will not do anything about untill one of these shitboxes burst into flames and someones baby gets burnt to death strapped in the back seat (very common new family car).
If this is not the problem then I will be suprised.

I rang the Holden & Nissan, & then Toyota dealer to ask the mechanics there about reliability of Maximas & Avalons. I ended up chatting with the nice young lady who books the cars in; she said Maximas (actually all current Nissans) only get booked in for services & not repairs (or warranty repairs) ... and then she started rattling off the faults with Astras & thence Rodeos. Can't remember what they all were, but yeah, she mentioned airflow-meters & brakes & timing-belts for the Astras.Originally posted by GregaustYes my sister has done several sets of brakes apporx every 30k on her 2000 astra not to mention a timing belt every 60k as per the book. What is that about?????Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

My mum drives an 01 Astra, and I can vouch for them that they are shit. So many problems which just shouldnt happen in a car which since new has been driven gently and serviced at Holden.
The last thing which went was the Compressor for the A/C. I believe it was ~$700 to buy a new one.
Altenator has been replaced, Computer, power steer pump and thermo fan. All after the warranty expired.
Holden dont care. As im sure they wont care when my parents buy something Jap.
ZSpeed, your mum has 12 months left before the car transforms into a steaming pile of shit.
edit: its an 01 not 02

any car should still feel fresh under 2 years old.
25K? for quite a few makes out there you would have only had ONE service by now.
