this is an example of why you should be very careful naming companies, even if its fact:

ended up costing the original poster $10k+ from memory.

Sounds to me like if the right parts were sent in the first place there wouldn't have been a problem ??

to a degree. But for all intents and purposes the problem is the same.

What we are looking at here is "Defamation". The problem is that if someone comes in and posts "BigMuz PTY LTD are a pack of cunts because they sold me fake BHP shares, punched my missus and raped my dog" it's defamatory. It Defames BigMuz Pty Ltd. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, all that matters in the eyes of the law and arsehole lawyers is that it is defamatory and therefore grounds to sue.

We see this as a popular tactic amongst some well known faeces in the media who reguarly appears on TT/ACA and the like. They spew a bunch of waffle that gets people angry enough to publically call them rude names, then they go around and sue them all for defamation. Step 3 = Profit.

So for us here on PF when someone has something derogatory to say about a company, the company name MUST be removed, as it leaves PF open for law suits, and possibly the individual poster. People that insist on posting the name of the company will have to be banned because it can well lead to PF being closed and Simon owing someone a huge wad of cash.

Back in Nick's day PF was threatened with legal action in exactly this fashion, right down to being served legal docs in hard copy. It's a real concern.

The Overclockers Australia forums were shut down for if i recall correctly well over a year because a company kicked up a stinky and tried to sue the forum owner for defamation.

The original poster was just stating the facts and how he was hard done by but in the end the forum was shut down soley because the owner couldn't afford the legal bills to fight it.

Doesn't matter if it's fact or fiction. If you say anything "bad" they can give you a run for your money through the system that is gonna leave you sobbering like a little girl in the end.

            *edit*
Secoh beat me to it and worded it much better.

Muz, I believe Aus libel/defamation type laws are actually tougher than US ones. You can get away with saying more in the US.

Anyway, not being expert in libel law in any way, it's best to stick with that old saying, "if you haven't got anything nice to say about someone, it's best not to say anything at all"

BTW do you wanna buy some BHP shares? What colour are your dog's eyes? What is your missus phone number?

Or it's best to say it woithout naming names, then say at the end of the post "PM me for the name".

Yeah I know that, but shit happens, people make mistakes & people selling bits for race cars make more mistakes than just about anyone...you have to allow for it. I know it sucks, I know its not right but its just reality.

If you rely on everything going just perfectly to get you to a race then you just arent going to make it.

Either that or I have just had the worst ever run of luck relating to getting cars together for races over the last 20 years.

Tell me its not just me!!!

Guy - it isn't just you, trust me... There's i reason why i call our group of mates "last minute racing team"...

Going by Tony's original post he ordered them 4 weeks before Christmas - you'd think a late November order would be sorted well before mid February though...

meh, not too many big name gearset + rod makers in sydney are there?

that said the pics of the gtir gearbox isn't really fair, the box casings are like they're made out of a f*ckin balsa wood, although other customers of the identical products have had trouble n14pulsar (as have people using their fwd box sets).

that said this sorta stuff isn't easy to make, and the big difference between the gearset issues and the rods is that one is a design/build issue, the other is a logistics issue (i.e. they f*cked up an order).

i just want auto product companies to quote REAL timeframes, not fake "look we're fast, buy ours and then we'll take twice as long as we stated" tactics to make sales. i waited 6 months & paid an extra $1.5k for a gear set because of the companies reputations, some of us actually do prefer to wait long and pay more for a better product.

How is the gearbox casing their problem? They sell and install gearsets. Many pulsar sss's have cracked their casings too.

I am putting 231 all wheel kilowatts through one the gearsets pictured above, it's no where near breaking & i look forward to putting another roughly 120 through that gearset because i know it was built right - first time.

The rods are a bit of a worry though, I have an SR20 bottom end at home with the same brand rods in it, and surprise surprise one of the pistons is sitting about 1mm above the top.

So far 2 engine builders have commented on it & have similar opinions of that company, there's also stories filtering out of the UK now about rods needing serious grinding so they are all balanced.

One workshop here even showed me a set of rods for an FJ20 which had grinding marks all over them in an effort to get them balanced.

What i do know (partly thanks to this thread) is that those brand new rods are coming out now and a set of Tomei / Argo / JUN rods are going in before the head goes on

There was a giant forum crash and a change in software that took the whole lot down, maybe you are confused with that? The drama with the company didnt result in the site closing like that.
