The Soarer is a long wheel base cruiser, you'll not find a car of that age that is smoother on the road. The 2.5L twin turbo engine is a gem, however as stated the turbos do tend to fail when boosted hard. The automatic gearboxes also are a masterpiece for there time, smooth, and very low drivetrain losses, however with heaps more power, they do tend to fail. They really need a transmission cooler and shift kit to last with added power. If you want more info on soarers visit soarercentral.com . Can't help you with the prelude but.

Oh and as for quarter mile times, quickest stock turbo soarer in australia is 12.5@111 miles/hour. If you want fast, you'll struggle to get a prelude to do that.

There would be more soarer parts than prelude parts wouldn't there? In the aftermarket range for modifications...

I drove a soarer when I was in Melbourne visiting a mate a couple of years back. He let me thrash it through the hills up to this wine place we were staying. Was a crappy auto and needed new suspension but the thing went alright! I would definatly go the soarer over the prelude. There are more known options for the soarer as far as I am aware.

I think that the chalk will do an excellent job writing on blackboards, but will not taste that great and have zero nutrional value. The cheese is totally arse on blackboards but tastes great, and is full of milk fats and proteins.

That said - soarer soarer soarer. The turbo's aren't as frail as people make them out to be.
Marvellous things so quickly get mundane

Give justcars a call, and a few other insurance compaines you can find in the phone book.

Don't get dissapointed if you wont get insurance for a TT soarer, and even if you do, don't be suprised if you're going to pay $x,xxx per year for cover either. Maybe 3rd party might be a better option than comprehensive, which means the other person is covered, but any damage to your car you pay for yourself.

The other option is getting a n/a soarer and making it a project over a few years, doing everything else (wheels, suspension, brakes, interior, paint etc) until you can afford the insurance for that bolt on turbo kit...

Its too much work and money to turbo an NA when there is a quick and easy solution in a turbo factory setup. You could try young and cool as well for insurance quotes, and being on the sunshine coast it shouldn't be a huge amount like the national debt as you get in sydney. It sounds like insurance money may well dicate what you end up buying.

You might also end up paying more initial purchase price for an NA 6 soarer as they only started in 94 compared to 91 for the TT and you can get TT's very cheap now, for as low as 7500, mind you there not in the best condition for that price.

                      Insurance

                      Dude,

To be honest, one of your choices would see you bent over and raped for the premium you would be paying, the other one, perhaps a small bit of lube would be added to take some of the discomfort away, but you would still be raped.

Nothing personal towards you or any other youngins, but I wouldnt insure you in either car let alone offer a quote, but as phee suggested, maybe the specialist insurance co's like Just Cars would be worth investigating. BYO lube.

Make the enquires BEFORE you get a car man, it may also assist in your decision as you might not even be able to get the cover for those cars, or it simply isnt worth the money you would need to fork out to get the cover.

SSS pulsar might be the go too dude.

Something that won't get you as pwned on insurance, but will still be fun to drive

                        Cheers

Yeah, maybe get a list of cars you wouldn't mind owning and then find the cost of insurance for all of them, and whichever one comes back the cheapest, buy that one.

oh dear, i can see this is gonna end in tears. if youre gonna write a car off, you might as well do it in style. go the soarer. besides, the soarer would be a safe(r) car to do it in anyway. remember a few yrs back when a mate of mine wrote off his at 150+ after going airborne then taking out someone's farm fence. all 5 walked out without a scratch. moral of the story; make sure you have insurance and GT wing.

                            Better still, get an mx5.
